Water? (metabolism)

Does drinking water actually boost metabolism? I drink 3 liters of water a day, along with 1 cup of green tea at the end of my day. Also I eat each meal with 3 hrs in between each. I've been doing this for 3 months. Have I increased my metabolism?

No,
Exercise can increase metabolism but food and food timing can't.2 -
To increase your metabolic demand, you need to make more demands in your body - the easiest way is more physical activity.0

3 litres of water a day?
Maybe you've boosted your metabolism doing lots of exercise running to the toilet!
But the toilet would have to be far away, so, yeah, no, you haven't boosted your metabolism.
Just drink when you're thirsty. Water isn't a magic weight loss potion. You're on MFP. Use it properly.6 -
There's a constant search by people who would like to lose weight without actually eating less - water myths, metabolism myths, changing meal timing without changing volume of food, weird and wonderful supplements are part of that.
It's that desire that makes the diet industry such big business and creates a huge barrier to people's chance of success.
Just keep it simple and give up the search for shortcuts.
Eat a bit less (in any pattern that suits you) and move a bit more (daily activity and exercise).10 -
Great advice. Good luck .1

3 litres a day from 10 to 38 C will take out 84 calories of heat from your body for what it's worth.0

Water? No, but drinking hot coffee can increase your metabolism. The reason is that your body is forced to expend energy bringing your internal temperature back down to normal. It isn't a large change in metabolism but it is an increase.2

Well actually water is super beneficial to the body, drinking when I'm only thirsty is bad advice, I'm not using it for weght loss. And as for weight loss I've already met my goal .. I was just wondering about the metabolism theory only.

I would recommend working out more to boost metabolism as others have said.1

Sorry for being indelicate, but as long as your pee is light yellow, you are drinking plenty of water. If it's clear, you may be drinking too much. I tend to always have a beverage next to me, but I only focus on drinking when I'm thirsty. And no sorry, it doesn't do anything measurable for your metabolism. As others have said, the only thing that really does is exercise.4
