Hi There! I'm a fairly new vegetarian (yeah!). I'm looking for suggestions on how to get more protein in my diet. Right now, my diet heavily relies on carbs.

If you are lacto- ovo- vegetarian you can add all the eggs, dairy, whey powders, casein powders, and cheeses.

    Pescatarian, you can add fish.

If not, there's all the soy products including tofu.

    There's gluten, including Seitan.

Some vegetarian protein powders rely on exotic protein sources such as rice protein, brewer's yeast or Spirulina.

    Defatted peanut powder, PB2.

And finally, there's all the legumes including beans, chickpeas, and lentils.

Nutritional yeast and chia seeds both have 3 grams of protein per tablespoon - and tons of other benefits for vegetarians!

Not a vegetarian but I LOVE nutritional yeast! I sub it for cheese on my homemade pizzas right on top of the sauce. It's great!
