Weight loss plan that makes sense, and works

I've done all the diets in the past... Atkins, fasting, low carbs, weight loss supplements. Still my weight has crept up and up over the years, now in my late 70's having developed an unsightly gut and being diagnosed two years ago with Type II diabetes. This diet seems to be working best. I love the mathematical logic of it all. While calorie counting is relatively new on the nutrition scene in that our grandparents didn't know about it, the truth of it all and the inevitability of consequences following actions is satisfying. Knowing that if you drive X miles an hour, you will cover 10X miles in 10 hours.

I'm similar, done everything from VLCDs, juice fasting, low carb, vegetarian, japanese and just got fatter and fatter.
Been on this for 52 days and it really feels like the answer. I'm having to be creative to eat enough food to fill me up without going over the calories but it's really working. Never counted calories before but now it makes perfect sense.

Yes, yes, and yes. This appeals to the numbers and math side of my brain. How much weight have you lost? What do you do for exercise? I bought a Xootr kick scooter 3 weeks ago, am loving it, riding the bike paths around LA, exercise every day.

I know that a plant based diet will get rid of your diabetes. I'm trying to go vegan myself but it's hard and I don't know what to eat

You can't get "rid" of diabetes. You CAN keep it under control.

So much this. I am not sure where people get these ideas. Neither Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes has a cure. Both are chronic, but treatable illnesses.
