So I wore my hair relaxed for my entire life. But when I was 31-32 I was sick of using all those chemicals on my hair. So I literally went to a barber shop & told them to shave my head. They looked at me like I was crazy. But here I am 4 years later & I have never regretted it.

I'll be doing the same thing, when the weather here within New Jersey; gets cold enough to've to wear a hat! I'll be able to donate, my hair; since it qualifies but I am doing it to alleviate the chore, of dealing with it; since my disability's getting worse & to save money because I hate up~dos, unless they're necessary because it begins to hurt, my scalp but I shed, worse than a dog; I literally've to vacuum daily & go through 4 vacuums annually! The money that I'll save, via not having to replace vacuums; as often & using less shampoo/conditioner, I'll put towards hiring someone once monthly to take me to run errands, help me batch cook & scrub my outdoor clothes drying rack.

I'll get a wig just in case, the way that I'll look; horrifies me without hair but I've found that a regular average cost wig, via a Halloween/Party store's adequate when classmates had mistaken my curly wig hair for a costume then; as being my actual normally straight hair!

I always wished I had curly hair, but it was pretty straight. So then it was short for years, and now that I'm growing it out it's curly, but only the under layers! I wish mine would grow in curly all over! :D

Gorgeous! I shaved my head last year around this time....I've had alopecia for almost a decade and was always ashamed of my head....and then i buzzed all that was left, off....i was always afraid of my boyfriend seeing my head, but after i buzzed it, i became so confident...now I walk around bald at home. Next year I plan to start going out in public :)

I'll only shave mine once as well, it'll take 3 years prior to me needing to get another hair cut thereafter; so that should grant me enough time to focus upon finishing with getting rid of all of my excess weight also!

be careful what you wish for. lol most of my life my hair was wavy,as I have gotten older its now curlier than ever. looks like I have a perm and I havent had a perm in over 21 years. now to even straighten it is a chore and the shorter it is the more it wants to curl. They say hair cant change, lol I beg to differ

I know two ladies with the same hair as you. Young women.

One has red dye and the other purple and green.

I'm sticking with the black. It took me 4 years to grow my hair this long. I don't want to risk any damage. As much as I'd like to play around with color.

Your hair looks so healthy! Do you have to do anything special to it now?

I have to detangle it weekly & I have my favorite products to keep it styled & moisturizes. But it's pretty low maintenance.

Short hair is very liberating and you wore it well. But I think your curly hair now is really beautiful and if it's not too much trouble, you should keep it like it is before it starts turning grey.

Oh this hair isn't going anywhere! I'm just letting nature take its course! Thanks

Short hair is beautiful. I've had a pixie cut before but sometimes strangers called me names and gave me angry looks.

I think with me it was a cultural thing. If I don't have long hair then I risk being labeled as a feminist, gay, or something else. That was my experience. Often I felt put on the spot in public for being a lady with very short hair.

I support men being allowed to grow long hair and women who want to have a shaved head because they can.

I didn't miss having to keep my hair in a bun, or ponytail, 90% of the time along with the up keep. I eventually grew comfortable with my style and brush off people who object to it. Either way, long or short hair you do you and enjoy.

I have whats called a long pixie of course its longer now but was kinda hesitant about it. but hey if you can rock short hair or shaved hair I say go for it. I dont miss long hair or the upkeep either.

Meh. I couldn't care less what other people think of my hair. That's nothing to me. I guess those labels are supposed to be insulting? Maybe to some people, but that's not my problem. (Maybe that's just an old lady thing. I've stopped caring about other people's hangups long ago.) I would probably feel differently if I lived in a place where being one of those things could make me a target for violence, though! But thankfully, I live in a place where I can freely express myself without risking my life. I do take my husband's opinions into account, but he seems to think I'm adorable no matter what, so...
