I'm 5'8". I've been obese my entire life so I have no idea what weight I want to be until I get there. Right now I'm thinking 150-ish. My sister is 160 and 2 inches taller than me, and she's starting to develop some nice muscle definition. That is something I definitely want :] I lift light right now, kind of afraid to go heavy until I get a docs approval because of my back injury. I'm already seeing upper arm definition but not enough to take the attention away from my bat wings

    Updates anyone?

I am down 31 lbs and currently weigh 169, about 5 lbs less then when I got pregnant with my 3rd and last child. I'm comfortably wearing a size 10 pants and just yesterday got into my "goal" jeans. My ultimate weight goal has always been 165lbs and I'm looking forward to reaching that goal over the next month or so...then, maybe pushing a little harder and going for the 150's...which I haven't seen since my teen years.

I am 5'8 and I was always 120 .. sounds low I suppose but I was always the willow-y type and I looked good but now I'm older and honestly being really skinny is not flattering to anyone at my age. I lift pretty heavy and I like looking muscular but if I'm over 125 or so I get a poochy tummy and love handles but my upper body looks super bony .. ugghh

I'm 47 and I weight about 260 at the moment. I've never been thin or fit in my entire life. The least I remember weighing was 195 and I was size 11 so I would love to hit 194

I'm 5'8" aiming for my weight from 2014-15, 140lbs, would love to get down to 135, but I'm not sure how realistic that is as I'm nearing my 30th bdaaayyy woo wooooo!

My goal is 140. In my 20s, that was the heaviest I ever got and I had managed to get down to about 125 lbs with intense exercise regimen and healthy eating, but that's no longer realistic for me with my job and being a mom. I'm now 150 lbs and think 140 is achievable and healthy. I really love to eat good food and need to travel and eat out for work sometimes, so I can't really afford to be too strict or I would be miserable. 140 is about where I end up with working out 3-4 times per week and eating healthy foods in smaller portions with the occasional pizza night or special occasion.

Oh wow @DAM5412 you're still here!

I've been at 140-142 for a while. I could lose a couple more pounds - maybe five - but no more than that. I like 140 a lot.

I'm 5'8" with a wide frame, big shoulders and hips. I looked bangin' at 175 in my late teens/early 20s so I am aiming to get back there.

I also feel like the numbers on the scale are far less important than how I feel/look. If I get to 190 and like where I am, I'll stay there. The only reason I even pay any attention to the scale right now is to track my progress.

I'm 5'9" and I'm aiming for 164 which would but me at "normal" BMI. I've always been overweight/obese, so I want to get there and re-evaluate. Maybe go lower, but we'll see when I get there. ETA February 2019 :D:D

I'm 5'8" and my goal weight is 165 (to start), but I'd like to get down to 150-155 eventually.

I'm 5'8" with large hips and bust, I have no idea if I posted in this thread previously or not.

When I started MFP (March 2013), my goal weight was 220 because I was striving for "doable" (and after HW 307 it sounded great to me) and then 180 because I recalled being 180s as a young teen and feeling "big but normal" and liking how I looked in photos from that era...so I thought that would be pretty cool.

When I hit those weights, I wanted to keep going. 166 is the lowest I've gone but currently in the 170s and I guess you could say I am maintaining (would like to hit 160s again but happy where I am, too). 170s seem to be fairly easy to maintain for me but 160s were a constant battle.

Get a lean body mass test with a nutritionist, then you'll know right where you need to be

I'm closer to 5'7" but... my goal rn is just 190. I don't even know what my UGW would be. Thanks for creating this post!
  • I'm 5 seven and a half. I would like to be 133lbs, the magical 9 and a half stone that took me through my 20s! I started at 154 and am now 147, a third of the way!

Quite funny scrolling through this and seeing my initial post back in 2013 then my second in 2014. Initiallly I was 140 Ibs at 5'10 then by the year after I was at 129-131 Ibs. I shot up to an estimated 160 while on an anti depressant and totally inactive ( I had never ever been over 145 prior to that) and now I am sat at 126-128 with low bodyfat % still. I have no real goal now other than getting my focus off the damn scale again and back onto what I can achieve in the gym. I go up and down so much it isn't even funny lol. I would say my body's natural weight is around 140 as that is always where it ends up when I am not focusing on it.

My present goal is 164, which is the upper limit of healthy BMI for 5'8".

In the past, my best weight has been about 140. In college I weighed 125 and looked great but has some health issues from being too thin, such as reactive hypoglycemia. I was 112 when I was a model and looked pretty scrawny at that weight.

    136. I've struggled with this a lot. My goal several years ago was 128 and I hit that for like 1 minute but I don't think that's realistic for me now. I was ghastly thin in my 20s and also very unhealthy. Now I am an athlete and want to be strong more than thin, though I have an obsession with being thin that i am not entirely comfortable with. I have a very small frame and all extra weight goes to my waist, which at 5'8" and 138.5 is still almost 29". But I've decided when I get to 136 I'm going to stop trying to lose and focus on eating in a way that's sustainable. I can't believe what a hard time I have even sticking to around 2000 calories a day. I snack too much and have a wicked sweet tooth.

I'm 5'9- I don't have a real goal weight yet. It really depends on your age and strength training. With strength training you can wear a much smaller size but your BMI may still have you on the high side. Don't focus on any number on the scale, chart or clothing size. I've been a size 6 tall pants but with a high BMI, but my face was so thin and drawn. Find a balance between how you look, feel and how sustainable it is...

I'm 5 8 and a half. Aiming for 144, nearly there. Have been lighter but I think I'll maintain 144 more easily.

I don't have an ultimate goal weight, because weight is not my goal.

I am just going to keep improving my habits and losing weight as long as it's healthy for me to do so.

I'm 5'8'' and my start weight was 184 lbs - I'm currently at 155 (set initial goal in mfp of 154) with will continue to 150. After that I don't know - I want it to be maintainable and am in my mid forties - my lowest in my early twenties was about 135 lbs but that wasn't maintainable for me. I think 145-150 will probably be what I end up aiming at as a target maintenance range.

    5'8 1/2"
    HW: 227.2
    CW: 209

First goal: under 200 (which makes me overweight instead of obese)
Second goal: 170, which gives me a normal BMI
    Final goal?: 150 seems doable

I was 135 in college. Ain't getting back there.
