Having kidney disease requires limiting protein regardless of the source. What is a reasonable target for Protein figured in grams?

  • Agreed.
Any misinformation here could be life threatening.
You need to discuss all your nutrition and limited fluid restrictions to your medical team.

    All the best. :):)

Yeah, when I was on a renal diet they were really pushing protein, and even salt at one point. So definitely speak with a professional who has seen your labs, as this isn't cookie cutter stuff.

It's going to vary depending on your condition. It depends on severity, reason for the kidney issues, and even how it's being treated. Ask your nephrologist.

Definitely need to ask your medical team. There should be a nutritionist...either with your nephrologist's office or at your dialysis center. The diet is specific to the condition that is the reason for dialysis, along with multiple other factors. What someone else follows could be totally wrong for you. Protien levels, potassium restrictions, fluid restrictions...it's all variable based on individual. You do not want to take the advice of some random person on the internet and end up stressing your kidneys and having to increase dialysis or end up on a transplant list. It's a serious health issue.
