I had to scrap my tempo Thursday this morning for a multitude of reasons:
1) I ate Sour Patch Kids and Reeces Pieces for dinner last night at my after work movie and then a little of actual dinner at 8 pm which was definitely too late. I had no pep after about 4 miles today.
2) My marathon buddy has a cold and decided to rest. I had company for a few miles from another running group member though, but he bailed after about 3 miles and I was 100% on my own, in the dark.
3) My left heel is still super tight. Not sure the extra rest days are helping. Going to do 4 easy in the morning tomorrow to a) make up miles tomorrow and b) try to keep my heel from being so tight.
4) I was on my own. I am sure that if my marathon partner was there, I'd have persevered through the entire run. But I was solo, I had the option to bail and still put in decent though slower miles, so I did.
Group run tonight will be another 6. I am going to try to work on stretching and limbering up a bit at work today. I foam rolled last night and this morning, so I was able to go down the stairs without my heels feeling like they would break in half, so that's progress! I'm going to have to make sure I get up and walk around more at work; I've been embarrassingly stationary lately.

4:20 AM + 75 degrees + 94% humidity = me saying screw it after 3 miles. Only had 5 scheduled so it's not too big of a deal. Summer just needs to finally die and go away, hopefully this week is it's last hurrah.. Might head out tonight and do it again. It will still be warm but the humidity isn't nearly as bad in the evening.4 -

I FINISHED!!! I finished the couch to 5k program. I have started it a few times but never finished. Until now! SO excited that I can run for 30 minutes. I am going to go for a full 3.1 miles on Sunday just to test, but I think I have it now. Whoop. I owe part of it to you because this has been a great group of people with TONS of motivation and great advice. Thank you!
Total 22.61/30 goal21 -
Just wanted to add that it is HOT! 5:30 am and it being almost 80 degrees is HOT! At least the sun wasn't beating down. Is it fall yet???1

Struggling to get back in my rhythm, but did get in a few miles yesterday; over halfway to goal, but many to go if I'm to make it. Traveling to kid's college this weekend: 7 hours each way. There is no exercise or stretch that I've found that gets me through that without tremendous leg discomfort. Will still try to get miles in at least Sunday morning, while traveling.

@ariceroni that heat sounds nasty!
I got my run in last night (4.8 miles) with Kody when it was in the upper 50's. It's my last run before my trail half Saturday, which is good because it will be in the 80's today and the 90's tomorrow. The expected temp for the race is 76F to 85F, with a real feel of 80F to 90F!! Yeah....definitely going to take this one easy. I wasn't going to carry water on this one but after seeing the forecast I think I better.

CONGRATS!! and well done!! I completed C25K back in early Feb, 2017 and remember that great satisfaction of completing that program. Not to push you....but you know what comes next?? That right - C210K . Good news is you can skip the first 7 or 8 weeks since you are well off the couch now.
Also, if you don't have a watch would a) recommend one (greats buys on eBay) and/or b) at a minimum tracking runs via Strava via phone so you can see progress and get support via group as well2 -

Some how your current avatar picture seems to fit that statement well.2 -

I have a watch, so that is good. I wish I had spent the extra and bought the forerunner I wanted. Guess I will try and make it a Christmas present.
I am starting the bridge to 5k this week or Hal Higdon's novice 10k plan. It starts out a little slower than what I am doing now, but just adds more time. I'm excited to keep on running!!!5 -

Another 5 miles today. I'm still not sure if I'll do my long run tomorrow or Saturday... I'm thinking of running the trails at the state park though to do it. Haven't been there all summer and I'm wary of the bugs.0 -
Congrats @seanevan10 , I liked Higdon plans when I was training against shorter distances- you'll do great!
@skippygirlsmom I don't know why I didn't see them yesterday when I read your post about Skip's mud run (phone weirdness?) but they are awesome! What is the deal with senior pictures anyway? Do American high schools not bring in the lifetouch photographer to take everyone's yearbook photo against some weird marbled background and then the yearbook committee chooses which one they are putting in from your proofs? No? Is Canada really this much weirder than everywhere else ?
Analyzing my HR data over my last two runs where I had almost no piriformal or torn up foot pain versus when we were in Calgary and both were at their worst- wow pain effects my HR more than I thought. I ran the same route, ran it faster and my HR average was 30bpm lower today . Learn something everyday!

Thanks for the Skip comments, I think she’s a cutie pie too. I love taking pictures. I started to look at the local community college to see what photography classes I can take. I’ll need something to do when she graduates and leaves me. LOL
@ddmom0811 ouch on your finger – has your house emptied out yet?
@garygse I like your thinking on the calorie labels ha ha Honestly I’ll be having hot dogs for dinner tonight. I don’t think I could do the Pumpkin spice either @PastorVincent. Actually just making them would make me ill based on the video.
@PastorVincent I love your relive video, mine would be so boring ha ha
@ariceroni I love your pecan emphasis
@greenolivetree from where I sit you are missing nothing by not trying either.
@marikaCL congrats on getting to goal with lots of days to spare
@Kristinegift I love your list for why you scrapped your tempo run
@seanevan10 congrats on finishing C25K
@JessicaMcB ha ha on Lifetouch OMG they are everywhere! So here is the deal here (in the South) you get your “formal” done – you know girls in black drape and pearls (which Skip refused to wear – she wore a necklace my mom gave her), THEN the same nut photographer takes “school” pictures – the standard ugly marble back ground. Both go in the yearbook for seniors, no idea why. Then people hire photographers to take these casual shots. They start at like $350 for the sitting fee. If you want to go the park, more money, if you want to change clothes, more money, want your car in the shot, more money. I’m like are you kidding me? There is a farm by us she wants me to stop and ask if we can take fall pictures there. Up the street a bit people have Clydesdales horses she wants to stop and ask if we can take a few with their horses. I said I’ll go anywhere you want.
This is her “official” graduation picture that will be in the yearbook - oh yeah $40 just to take the picture.
Sorry to go so far off running stuff! ha ha

It's only been 1.5 days but I WANT TO RUN. Ugh. Lol. Sorry, just had to vent! But, I know you guys get it, lol. I figure tonight I'll get in the pool and swim some laps, that always kicks my butt b/c I hardly ever do it, lol. Then, another zumba class. The good news is that last night's zumba class didn't bother my knee at all. I'm hoping that's a good sign but who knows!
I'm kinda odd in that I like all the pumpkin spice things, pumpkin bread, but I do NOT like pumpkin pie. Go figure, lol.
@seanevan10 congrats on finishing C25k!!!
@MobyCarp sooo happy to see you back running again!!!
@JessicaMcB my high school in NY definitely had the LifeTouch photographer with the bizarro marbled backgrounds and the super awkward poses (seriously, who twists their head at that angle? lol) so it's not just you Canadians!
My temps aren't nearly as bad as some of you, but OMG am I sick of seeing 80s in the forecast! I seriously hope that predicted drop in temps holds true for mid- to end- next week
