I got off my lazy butt and turned on some of the RevFit videos that someone mentioned a few pages back on Monday. My 3-year-old begged to do it again after dinner tonight, so we did. My arm and shoulder muscles are weak and I'm terribly uncoordinated, but it's still fun.21

Seeing before and after pictures! I also fit into jeans that my mother gave me MONTHS ago, so that was pretty exciting!

Realizing just how much my perception of distance has changed over the past few months. I only have street parking where I live, and sometimes I have to park several blocks away. Tonight was one of those nights. I had that excited-yet-bored feeling where I had plenty of energy, but the idea of taking the time to walk that distance seemed painfully tedious, so I decided to run from the car to my apartment. It was a super quick run; it was only...about 3 minutes? A little more? (My phone says 2, but it's not super accurate for time periods that short.) I know I was running a lot faster than I can sustain for my longer distance runs, but other than that I wasn't really paying attention. It was no big deal to me while I was doing it.
Well, a little bit later it struck me that when I was living with my ex-roommate, I considered that a long distance to walk, let alone run. So I pulled out my phone and, just out of curiosity, looked up just how far I went...
Yeah, if you'd told me a year ago that I would one day consider half a mile "just a quick dash" I would never have believed you. Yet here we are.37 -
This is such BS. The whole thing, for the most part.... Glad you made your flight, no thanks to Theatrical Security Aspirants...I have had similar treatment and it boils my Blutos esp after going through the process of getting a Nexus pass. They are selling the theater of security and it's a shame.JustRobby1 wrote: »I just got back to O'hare this evening from a business trip and I almost missed my flight out of RDU because of TSA. Eeeee! Well done! They are so much fun, right??9 -
I am wearing one of my goal jeans today. I had planned to fit them on 1st Oct. so beat my goal by 10 days.. yay..24

Today's NSV shook me. Picked up a bag of cat litter at the shop, read it said 10kg & after double checking, I'm 1lb away from losing that(22 and a bit lbs) I struggled to carry it to the till, yet I've hefted it around (albeit evenly distributed) for who knows how long!
These are just coming thick & fast just now, can hardly believe it. Definitely needed it today though as I woke up this morning feeling like I'd all the build & grace of a baby elephant

This time after I handed over my ID I could tell the guy was immediately suspicious. I guess somebody was trying to earn their junior G man merit badge, because random white guys in business suits in the pre-check line are not what I would expect would throw up Pablo Escobar red flags. "This does not look like you at all, sir" was the first thing out of his mouth. I explained to him that I have lost a lot of weight the last year but he dismissed this pretty quickly and called a supervisor and another guy over. Now I was starting to feel uncomfortable, as not only were 3 TSA guys now in my face, but I could feel 40 or so sets of eyes planted firmly on me from the people in the various lines behind me.
...
So I guess now is the time to go get a new ID. NSV? I guess, but not in the traditional sense.
Not at all, but well handled. If you travel again, have before and after (and in the middle) photos ready. (I don't mean that entirely seriously, but when we got our 7 year old's passport renewed we had to provide an annual photo of him over the course of the 5 years since his original photo was taken.) Glad to hear you didn't miss your flight!!8 -

a pair of capri pants that were too snug on me when i dug them out of storage at the beginning of this summer are comfy and kind of loose in all the right spots and yesterday i had to go down one more notch in my now-necessary belt for all my jeans. i have one notch left before the i need to start punching my own holes. once i get there, i'll go looking for a new pair of jeans.13

Yay! Well done you, that's amazing! Think this website is quite fun www.bluebulbsprojects.com , it gives you an equivalent weight to all kinds of things from objects to animals. Think at my last check I had lost two cats haha!11 -
MrsPinterest34 wrote: »My coworker calls me over as I was walking and tells me, "never wear those pants again, they are big on you". I responded with the biggest smile. In January the same pants were tight around my thighs, hips and butt. Im still struggling to lose in the hip area because I'm short 5'2", extremely pear shaped and the scale has stalled. So I appreciate the weight loss feedback. I'm still holding off on buying pants, I'm supposed to get a raise at my job in October I'll just save that money and go crazy Christmas shopping for work pants.
Thrift shops are your best friend while losing weight. I drop one bag of too big clothes at the back door and walk out with a bag of clothes that fit. Wear. And repeat15 -

I've tried the gym, swimming & even running but I could only stick a routine for a couple of weeks before I'd cave.
6 weeks ago I happened to see a Zumba video (the amazing RefitRev lassies) on YouTube & it looked quite fun. I did 4 songs worth & was dripping in sweat but boy, did I have a good time! Slowly building myself up I was so proud each time I mastered a routine without having to watch the girls' every move & found when I work hard, I can even keep up with them! (Crazy In Love near offed me, I can tell you!)
As I'm typing this just now, I'm soaking sweat through my (new & smaller) sportswear having just completed 8 songs - giving it my all to the highest intensity I can...back to back. Grand totalling a full 30 minute workout!
Never ever did I think I would stick something out this long & STILL look forward to doing it everyday. If I plan some time & it gets scuppered, I ACTUALLY get disappointed!!
It's even spurred me into doing strength training twice a week too ..without complaint. Not to mention I have the stamina for longer doggie walks too. My clothes are all too big & I am starting to see muscle tone under the fat all over. I don't know how many inches I've lost, but since I joined MVP 23 days ago I've gone down 2-3 on all the main body parts. A drastic overhaul of my diet has helped tremendously too & after ironing out some tweaks, I never feel hungry or deprived which I feel so fortunate for.
I know this is non scale victories, but I've lost 16lb in these past 6 weeks (7 while on MFP) & for the first time, I feel like I can keep going. My DP is me 3 years ago at my lightest in recent years. I was happy to be there but in reality, still needed to lose a lot more weight. Instead of keeping on, I let it all slide. I'm now just 3lb off that DP weight & this time, I REALLY want to go all the way. It's a long road & a hecka lotta pounds(about 100!!) but at the moment, I really feel I can do it!
So sorry for the long post, but i really am on cloud 9 today & I've not shared what I'm doing with anyone in my life except my husband. Guess I'm just worried the pressure will cause me to fail (for the umpteenth time), so if you read all of this drivel, thank you so much. It really does mean a lot!
Edit: oop & don't worry, I'm away for a shower now haha!
I just love this!! The RevFit ladies (and a few other YouTube channels like it) were my re-introduction to fitness! And then it also lead to strength training and other changes! Dancing to those songs gave me such a realistic goal to pursue (I would do the same song on repeat until I felt I could actually follow along decently) and also just made the 30mins of exercise fly. Yay!! I'm so happy for you!!
Thank you so much, your message was a real boost. So glad you also found fun in exercise with a wee bit of dancing too! Do you have any other recommendations for channels? I've just stuck with refit so far but I know there will come a time I will want to change it up!
I loved the fact they have videos for everyone to enjoy, no matter their limitations....fast...slow...medium....high impact...low impact....just brilliant! And it is boggling how the minutes just melt away!. I moved from six songs to eight when I started to say "awww, is that it??" Never thought I'd see that day!
You're welcome! I could definitely say the same for yours, it's always a real joy to me to hear of others discovering the enjoyment of exercise and what works for them!
As for other channels, I'll share the two I used the most. Dance Fitness with Jessica and The Fitness Marshall. It's honestly been quite a while since I've been to these channels but when I was visiting regularly they always had good uploads and the choreography was something I felt I could figure out after a day or so of working out to the same song on repeat Hahahaha!
And since you mentioned enjoying the variety of low impact, fast, slow and other ways to customize your workout + the mention of strength training I'm gonna name drop my FAVORITE way to workout. Fitnessblender.com !! Allllll 600+ of their videos are on YouTube/their website. And on the website you can search for the videos by low impact, high impact, cardio, recovery, duration of the video, dumbbells vs no equipment, strength training, HIIT, yoga/Pilates inspired...all the things (thus the name...Fitness all mixed up = fitness blender!) oh. And it's all free. Go check it out if you're feeling like you want to lift some weights but don't have the brain energy to decide which exercises to do. (This is my absolutely shameless motivator ) It's definitely a different feel than the dancing...I'd still call it fun but in a totally different way! Haha
Seriously, I'm so excited for you! I remember wanting to workout again as a new mama but my standby of running wasn't an option at the time b/c of some injuries + figuring out how to do it with child care. That's when I discovered the dancing! And it was a total catalyst into exercising in a variety of different ways simply for the enjoyment of it from the comfort of my own home and on my own schedule. Yay!!
Thank you SO much for your lovely encouragement & recommendations! Definitely going to have a look at fitness blender first...that sounds so intriguing...
I'm so happy to be on the right path & your story is so encouraging. Really sounds like your baby has a Mama they can be super proud of! You look so fit & healthy in your DP. Really hope to be in your position one day!
I had a wee daft moment today...I have watched a refit dance I really liked the look of but when I first tried it (Life Bekah Shae(?)think about 5 weeks ago) I had no chance. I could see how to do it, it was just too fast paced for me. Decided to give it another bash this morning & I was away..kept up and everything. When it ended (talk about full disclosure) I had to stop a minute & have a wee cry...just hit home how far I've come in less than 2 months *blush*
Talk about a NSV and tearing up!! This is SO nice. Seriously, what nice, kind things to say! Full disclosure. I've been feeling a bit bloated lately and it's been hard to see myself as "fit" even though my body's capabilities prove otherwise. What an encouragement!! Thank you!
Other NSV: I noticed while pushing my children in the shopping cart "super fast" that there was a distinct difference between the jiggly parts on my back/lovehandle spot and all the (I'm guessing muscle?) underneath. I could feel the fat/loose skin moving on top of the flexed muscles. It used to allllll juggle and wiggle! Progress!15 -

Definite progress! I hear you about feeling bloated...water weight, general being a girl stuff...it's all good fun, hey?! But those muscles are all you!! You're doing amazing & you honestly are very inspiring. Hope you can always know that (even on *those* days)3 -
Ok, 2 more.
1.yesterday my body was exhausted from too many days of too little sleep + I'm successfully fighting off a cold but overall the body has to work at that. I started a low impact, short workout just to move but still respect where my body was at. 15mins in I could tell it was doing more harm than good so I stopped. and I didn't feel one bit blobby or guilty.
2. A good friend of mine has been sending me texts as follows...
Friend: "I set a goal for myself to workout 3x a week. Today is workout #3. What can you give me to motivate me to do this!? Help me!"
....20mins later...
Friend: "I did it." "You owe me $10."
Hahahahahaha
She did this yesterday too...
Friend: "how much $ will you give me to go workout?"
Me: "whatever it takes."
Friend: "Here I go"
Meanwhile I shared with her how I was feeling blah but wanted to still move a little. When she was done she told me I owed her $8 and then she followed that with "I'll give you $10." Hahahahahaha
I love that b/c she knows I workout 5 days a week (unless my body is ill or something else random) she knows I'll do the thing to motivate her to complete her own goals. It's awesome!19 -

Haha, I too close the curtains but whatever gives us the confidence to get up & moving, right? Honestly, by 4-5 times you'll totally be anticipating the next move! Sometimes I watch the video a few times before trying too. That's helped me, especially with the more complex ones. So glad you're having fun & I love that your wee one is joining in too!7 -
I accidentally grabbed my 13 year old son's Karate pants and wore them for an entire class and didn't notice. They are 2 sizes smaller than mine.31
-
According to the bluebulbsproject site I have lost the equivalent of a bowling ball but I think my main NSV is my balance is so much better. I no longer reach out to grab something to make sure I don't fall and I am able to hold yoga/stretch positions much better (and get in/out of the bathtub easily)!29
-
Got a new promotion at work! Which means I've doubled my daily steps. From 10k to easily 20k!26
-
NSV: Too lazy/sick/tired to do laundry so dug around in the "too small" pile of shirts. Most of them fit! Yay! Plus, I can avoid laundry another few days. Double yay!
SV: I have lost an automobile tire and am creeping up on the amount of pizza an average American eats in a year. Mom's car needs a new tire. When I go get her a new one, I'm tempted to keep the old and lug it around the yard on occasion to remind me how far I've come and NOT go back!25 -
Realized today that for going up 4 stories or less, it's now faster, and I consider it more convenient, for me to take the stairs.18
-
Restarted exercise as soon as I was recovered enough after being sick with cold/flu. Before this year I would have been derailed long term by the interruption21

Thankfully I can sew, because all of the clothes I took in back in July are now so big that I had to donate them. I'm down from a size 2X to a large/medium.30

MFP needs a way for all of us to trade clothes as we move up or down sizes.
