Ran my first 10K yesterday! It was HOT. Record-breakingly hot. And I live in Vermont, where it should be nice and cool this time of year! But I did it! I ran the whole thing and beat my goal
Oh and several of my coworkers ran it with me! I'm so happy that I've connected with the active people at work. They aren't as intimidating as I always thought This is us before the race. I'm in the middle.

Had a store credit returning swimsuit that was too big. Bought a new bra. When I started losing a year ago, I was a 40G. I bought a 34DDD, front clasp bra. I feel like lifting up my sweater and showing everyone (but I won't...probably).
Also, size 10 jeans are a thing for me now.34 -

Are you going to keep running? I loved the 10K I did a few weeks ago.2 -

heck yeah! I've caught the running bug hook line and sinker. One of my 2017 resolutions was to do 5 races. This 10K was #4 so I have to do at least one more this year! I'm already eyeing a 10K in November that sounds lovely.
Plus there's a half marathon in April that is advertised as having NO HILLS! Um, yes.11 -
Madwife2009 wrote: »2) Talking of cycling, I went down my short steep hill on Saturday, rather fast. Actually, very fast. As I do. Anyway, cycling along a flat, straight bit of road at the bottom of the hill when a vehicle pulled alongside me with his window down. This annoys me as motorists never have anything good to say to cyclists (in my experience anyway) so I'm bristling a bit, thinking that he's about to have a go at me for even daring to go on the roads on a bike.
I look at him and he's laughing at me. Then he says, "Do you realise that you were going at about 45 mph along there?". My first thought was, no, I was actually doing 46.4 mph. My second thought was, and you were exceeding the speed limit in order to clock my speed. I just smiled and said "Well, I'd better slow down in future then!"
I can just imagine his conversations down the pub, later on, "I clocked this crazy old woman on a bike earlier - she was doing 45 mph!!!!"
That's amazing! One of my friends in college had a goal to get a speeding ticket on his bike someday. I have no idea if he ever did, I haven't talked to him in twenty years, but that would actually be worth the ticket just for the story. Congrats on your speed!
I'm doing good to go 13 mph on my stationary bike right now. And I have to trust that it's accurate, because it doesn't feel all that fast!8 -
Not as impressive as most here, but I didn't need a seatbelt extension any more on a small regional jet last week. As somebody who travels constantly in my job as an aircraft mechanic, I have never needed one on mainline aircraft, but have always needed them on the small regionals.
It was a very happy discovery for me!44 -
I lost a notch - not in my belt, but in my watchband!27

Not eating the Reeses Peanut Butter cups that my boss offered me just now.28

Umm a little one...preferred a grapefruit to Ghirardelli brownie for my afternoon snack.24

BrokieLaw--saw your profile pic--you take my breath away. Congrats on your triathlon!1

When I moved back from the US 3 years ago I had stocked up on a few bras I planned on using soon after returning. Plan was to lose the extra weight I had put on during my years overseas pretty quickly. That did not happen haha. BUT today those bras fit finally and it does mean I don't need buy new ones now since my current ones are getting too big.20

I was able to get my wedding ring on for the first time in over a year. It was a little snug but up to now it wasn't even close to fitting. I hope to be able to wear it full time in another few weeks.24

I haven't actually measured my height since high school; I've just been listing 5'5 as my height since then. Today, my youngest daughter had a doctor's appt and she was adamant that I receive a Doc McStuffin's check up. I just *knew* I would be shorter and have to reduce my calories BUT I'm actually 5'5 and 1/2. That's a very important 1/2! I didn't shrink! Hooray!27

I went on a trip to Chicago this weekend. I bought a portable slow cooker so I wouldn't stray too far from the Autoimmune Protocol Diet. My nonscale victory is that I allowed some leeway by recognizing that stress is worse for my symptoms than food. So I ate out a few times, and the hotel cooked their eggs with canola oil. I must be healing considerably as my symptoms were grumpy but still manageable.
My other NSV in Chicago was that I woke up at 5:30am Saturday morning. Since I knew I wasn't going to go back to sleep, I went to the gym. Even better NSV - Another woman was there, and used a pair of the 7.5lbs weights I needed. No worries! I just did more reps with 5lbs weights. It's okay to be flexible!31 -
I still have a way to go but I'm finally down in the 250's again. Which I haven't seen in over twenty years. Next step is to get down into the 30's for the waist in pants.33

I've been fitting into more clothing. Some old stuff but I also allowed myself to buy a few new items. Buying things in a size smaller than you currently are is a great motivation and I fit into it now! Not only do I fit it, it looks good19

Beat my 5km time. New PB of 33:41. 13 seconds faster than previous! whoot!!
also NSV of coping with braces - not as bad as I was imagining and excited to start seeing teeth maybe move soon!19 -
At a poker game on Saturday with friends I haven't seen in awhile and in at atmosphere where we treat each other like complete garbage, the group agreed that I looked like *kitten* and had completely let myself go22

I'm not happy that my PMS symptoms are getting worse with weight loss. Who knew there are actually some benefits of fat for women!. Hopefully (I'm praying) it stabilizers when I hit my target goal. I started shopping for new smaller size clothes, nothing too expensive. I spent most of my time at the Junior section trying on medium size clothes that all fit. I could even fit into some of the smaller sizes but no need to rush it. Now that's progress! I haven't lost any pounds in the past 3 weeks, which is now becoming my monthly norm to only lose during TOM. This week is TOM so I'm looking forward to seeing how Iow I get!15 -
On the weekend I decided to clean the fronts and tops of my kitchen cabinets and had to stand on the counters to wipe down the tops. The nsv is that I felt comfortable doing all that climbing and twisting. I just take up less space in my world and exercise has made me more agile. My employer's phrase for staying healthy and exercising is "fit for life". Now I get it.18

Laying in the grass at Jackson Park at present like a slug.
That is so awesome! Congratulations!8 -
Finished my 8th Stronglifts workout. I took out the bar to warm up and was shocked at how easy the set was - it was like it weighed nothing at all! Three weeks ago I couldn't barely squat the bar and even hurt myself a bit trying to get it into position with no rack. Lol. So exciting to see progress already!!25

I posted about this before, but I got new lab work back yesterday, and my fasting glucose was 83 and cholesterol was 176, both an all-time low! My cholesterol was 237 last year and fasting glucose is usually in high 90s. I still need to raise my "good" chol a little but my changes have really made a difference.20

Have been sick with pneumonia for the last 2 wks. Haven't been to the gym but I'm still loosing weight with CICO.NSV,I'm still on track with the goals I want to reach, even if I'm laid up in bed for weeks!25

I know how you feel. I finally got my wedding and engagement rings on for the first time in over 1.5 years a few months ago. That was such an amazing feeling. Too bad they now slide around my finger since I've lost 42 lbs. Almost time to get ring guards. Haha.

I've got two! Today I discovered that I can paint my toenails without feeling like I need an oxygen mask afterwards. And my mom (who has jumped on the healthy lifestyle bandwagon with me and lost 40 lbs so far) and I went to our favorite Mexican restaurant. Last time we were there we had to ask for a table because the booths are too tight... not this time! Sat in a booth with room to spare!39

Thank You! I trained for several months to prepare for it, and had been in a slew of 5K's and a couple of 10K's prior. However, I still felt like I was in over my head that morning waiting for the gun to go off with the evil mistress of doubt having her way with me.
I did make mistakes. I started off way too fast and ended up paying the price for it by mile 6 as I was in a heap of pain. I got too excited from the big crowd and distractions from other runners and got off my game plan. I luckily managed to regain my composure and make up the time I ended up losing in the last 2 miles to the line. My goal was a sub 2 hour finish, which I did manage to accomplish, but I was pretty much useless that night and most of the next day afterwards.23 -
um, so yeah . . . people? my dad? the guy who fell and 'broke ribs' at age 92 only ten days ago?
i bullied him into a formal followup with his doctor instead of just stoic'ing it out, and took him today. THEY ARE NOT BROKEN. he hauled me all over town, now that he knows that he doesn't have bones that are trying to knit.
not technically an mfp kind of victory but it made such an incredible difference to him and his life i just had to get it off my chest.37 -
I went to H&M yesterday and bought a button down flannel in a European 38. It's s little small still -- if I thrust both my arms forward at the same time I'll Incredible Hulk my way through the shoulder seams -- but I haven't attempted a button down in ages and most definitely have not glanced in the direction of any sizes in the thirties in years. In fact, as someone else said on this board not too long ago I think, I haven't attempted any of the clothes sized with numbers (as opposed to s, m, l, etc.) in as long as I can remember.
Also, i hadn't attempted any trousers other Han leggings in years but I got into a 42 jean withitwihout muffin top yesterday too, which I not only count as a victory because it was not the largest size available (*kitten* off, 44s!), but since they were labelled 'super stretch' I figured maybe I should aim for a 40 instead. 'Correct' fit in a stretch jean is not the way to go, right? Someone tell me if I've got that wrong. Anyway they didn't have 40s in stock and I could see I'd have no shot at getting he 38s over my hips so I'll try for the 40s at another H&M branch maybe next week.
tl;dr: I fit into clothes with numbered sizes and NOT the biggest size either! Also, wearing 'real' clothes like button downs and jeans rather than dressed up pyjamas for the first time in years.18 -
