Great job!!! I can totally tell a difference if I go a few days without getting exercise, just grumpy and mad at the world. It makes such a big difference!! Glad you found something that works for you2

So fantastic that you are able to manage your depression with exercise at this time.
You also look fantastic.
My advice, as a person who thought for many many months I had 'cured' my mental illness with diet and exercise is to recognise that managing and cured, or in remission and cured, or not currently experiencing symptoms and cured are quite distinct from each other.24 -
It is the best medicine I have tried for my depression. It works!!2

YES! I thought I had been cured after two years of extensive treatment, but what really happened is that I had my mental illness under control and I was maintaining it.5 -
I have little experience with depression, but I recall the saying that "Food is the most abused anxiety medication, and exercise is the most underutilized antidepressant." Well done!17

Congrats!!! Keep it up! Every once in a while I take for granted the impact exercise has on my mental health, and stop for a few weeks. Pretty quickly though, I can say, "Why am I in the dumps and being miserable to everyone? Oh yeah. Time to go to the gym, whether I want to or not."5

i find exercising helps my depression a heap. I'm still on medication though and am ok with that. But like we all know "exercising gives you endorphin, endorphin's make you happy. happy people don't kill people"5

Brisk walking on treadmill for 40 min 4-5 days a week. At first i could last only 10 minutes. I Never do my cardio on empty stomach tho. I snack with 1.7 oz of wholewheat bread and half of egg white before starting. Then wait only 20-30 minutes and im good to go.
About exercises. I eat 1,5 - 2 hours before starting my strengh training. I work out at home using free weights and mostly concentrate on my abs and glutes areas. Squads, romanian split squads ( hate those), all kinds of leg raises, deadlift, bridge. I do some of these for 40 min and 10 min of stretching. I do my cardio in the morning and weights in the evening before dinner.
About dieting. For my first 3 months i used to eat only 1000 calories a day. But when i started my training with weights i realized that its nearly not enough. So now i eat 4 times a day. I got rid of junk food, pan frying, sugary drinks. I try to avoid carbs after 4pm. I drink plenty of water. I remember the days when i hated it but now i feel like my system demands water only. I cant even look at sugary drinks anymore.
So thats only a little bit of what i found out through my experience. I hope it was helpful.7 -
Wonderful progress and story. It is great that you have found something that works for you and that you are willing to share your knowledge.
I am lucky that I do not suffer from depression but I still love the buzz I get from exercising.1 -

Thank you for kind words. I hope that one day exercising will be your only medication. As for me, i was taking medication but i always felt like they do not cure my depression but only its symptoms. Doctors were ready to give me more and stronger pills. Antidepressants were messing with my mind and i think its the worst. But honestly thats not why i started exercising. I noticed how my body especially my heart started showing some warning signs. It never happened to me before. I was afraid for my life. I knew my body was rebelling against me and clearly telling me that if i wont start exercising i will get in trouble. So next day i woke up took the first picture that is shown above and started exercising.4 -

It is great if physical exercise/activity helps with ones depression. Awesome, in fact. However, it does not do so for everyone experiencing depression.
So if anyone reading this wonderful success story falls into the latter group, just know there is absolutely nothing wrong with you if you are busting tail with the exercise/activity level with no results to show for it as far as effect on your depression.7 -

Why?
Exercising can have very beneficial effects on mental health and resilience, but medication has an important role, too. Failing to acknowledge that perpetuates the stigma that prevents many people from getting the treatment they desperately need.
I'm happy you found something that works for you, truly.
