I took my mom out for a cheesy chick flick (her selection) and thrift shopping for random antique stuff.
Brought pizza to her house and a bunch of balloons.
She's a diva. I gave up my Saturday. This makes her really happy.1 -
How old is your mom? What about a framed, pinned butterfly or a locust with wings outstretched (they look like a Degas ballerina)? A book by her favorite author? Write a haiku and watercolor the background, then frame it. Locate a childhood chum and ask the chum to surprise your mother with a letter or phone call.

My mother's birthday is this coming Thursday, and i have no clue as to what I should get her
Any suggestions?
Ask her what she would like.
Think about what she likes to do.
If she likes to cook she might like a new cookbook or cooking gadget. Maybe she would like a membership at a local museum. Tickets to a show or concert? If she likes wine what about some wine club- I've heard Winc advertised.0 -

I was thinking this as well.... then I thought: most everyone appreciates a good ol" fashioned reach-around.0 -

Maybe even a donkey punch if it's a big birthday!
For mom, I would expect nothing less.0 -

I'm a mom, so I feel qualified to answer this.
Gift certificate for a one hour massage and a mani/pedi.2 -
If I knew my kid was asking for advice from strangers on the internet on what to buy me, I would not pay his college tuition.0

First off, why? why not explore all options, you could end up with much better ideas than what you had in mind before asking.
secondly, Edumacation is free in my country0 -

Because no one here knows what your mom likes? I got my mom a leaf blower for Christmas before. She loved it because she loves to work in the yard. Another mom might get a leaf blower and think to herself where she went wrong with her kids.0 -

Because I expect my family to know me and what I like and don't like better than strangers on the internet.0 -

It's not a matter of not knowing my mother, it's knowing she has everything she wants and still having to find something she'd enjoy.
Surely your family go look for inspiration elsewhere without you knowing. Everyone does to some extent.

Dooney and Bourke or Coach. They are medium-low range in terms of price and moms appreciate a good tote.
Medium to low range in pricing?
To spend any more, in my view, is a misplaced value.1 -
