Stuck

Hello everyone. I do t know if any of you might be able to help me so here goes.
I currently weigh 10st 12lb (152lb)
I am 5ft2in in height and female
I have been on 1350 calories a day for approximately 4 weeks now, and exercise 2-3 times a week.
My job can be fairly sedentary at times and other times I'm on my feet all day.
I also have a dog that I walk daily for anything between 20 - 60 minutes.
I also walk to work and back most days, 20 minutes, about 1.5 miles.

My weight doesn't appear to be shifting and I get married in 7 weeks so I'm feeling quite desperate and at a loss as to what to do.

Back in 2014 I did lose weight and got myself down to 9st 10lb using my fitness pal and I've been trying the same thing again but it's not working.

Any help is appreciated.

Are you weighing all solid food on a food scale?

When you say your weight "doesn't appear" to be shifting, do you mean you haven't lost any weight at all?

Also, if you open your diary we may be able to help you troubleshoot any potential logging issues.

When you say your weight doesn't appear to be shifting - how frequently are you weighing? In the first month or two if you're weighing in-frequently your weight loss can easily be masked by water retention and other normal weight fluctuations.

@tinkerbellang83 I weigh in a couple of times a week, after ablutions first thing in the morning and it might fluctuate up between 1-2lbs and back down again.

Ok, my diary is open, there are days I haven't tracked because I haven't had the time but I usually eat the same everyday when I'm at work for a week. I don't always track my exercise but when I do I use a polar watch heart monitor.

Also, I don't really eat back my exercise calories either. You may notice I don't really eat breakfast. I used to, it was something I started to do after giving up smoking back in 2010. Until about 3 months ago I was still eating breakfast and then my fiancé and I decided to try 16 hour fast so we first eat mid morning and last meal is dinner no later than 18:30. We both dropped about half a stone but we have also both now stopped loosing weight.

I'm not as far along as you are (and you are doing great!)....but what I am doing is limiting the window of time that I eat my calories. I don't eat anything after 8 or 9pm in the evening, and nothing for the next 12 hours or so (most of that is sleeping and getting ready for work. I drink black coffee though. ) I take public transportation to work, so I do at least 15 minutes of walking (stairs and uphill at times) from my stop to my job. I have a desk job, but I usually get in 6,000 steps a day, except weekends. I have lost 3.4 lbs in the last 10 days, and more importantly inches around my waist (have already went down a notch on my belt)

I use to eat like this when I was in my 20s and 30s and I was always thin -- I hated breakfast foods (eggs back then were a no-no, hated cereal and milk, and did not eat pork so no bacon etc. fruit eh) I became pregnant at 37 (weighing 135 at 5'9" - wearing a size 5). Ever since then I have been eating morning, noon and night (whether on a diet or not). I am now over 200 lbs....no bueno.

Some call my eating window Intermittent Fasting. If it worked for me in my younger years, and it seems to be working for me now, I'm sticking with it. Maybe you can try it for a week and see if you see a difference. Doesn't hurt to try - I still eat all my allowed calories.

Good luck, and congrats on the upcoming wedding! You will be beautiful no matter what!

Ok looking over your diary - are you weighing absolutely everything? In the grand scheme of things you don't have massive amounts to lose which means your logging has to be pretty spot on.

    For example:

Sunday - Steak 100g a pre-packaged Sirloin Steak is likely more than 100g so unless you have specifically weighed it out your calories could be off.

Monday Jamie Oliver recipe - did you build this yourself in recipe builder and weigh out ingredients?

I would say that if you're worried about being stuck, try to log every day so you have consistent data to look back on. Even days that seem really the same in retrospect can be different.

Also, it looks like you might not be weighing some prepared foods -- things that come in cans and your biscuits. It might be worth test-weighing these to see if they weigh more than you think they do. Some people find quite a bit of variation between what they're eating and what they think they're eating when they do this.

@tinkerbellang83 The steak was 100g, I weighed it, my other half had the rest.
That particular recipe I didn't build but used the exact ingredients from the book. Most of the other Jamie oliver recipes on my dairy I have used the builder for.

I would say that if you're searching for recipes in the database and entering those instead of using the Recipe Builder, you're making a big assumption that the person who created the database entry did it correctly and that it reflects the actual calories in the dish.

Ok, I'll use my builder more to be more accurate.

    Hi Shel,

You mentioned that you had lost when you started Intermittent Fasting. I'm wondering if that was a really big drop and now your body is balancing out it's water. Sometimes a big change results in a big drop and part of that is water. Then the body reabsorbs the water and it looks like you are't losing anymore when in fact you have lost fat which is usually our goal anyway right? I know 4 weeks feels like an eternity but hang in there. Try measuring to see if you have lost inches. Also (TMI here) remember that your bowels can hold a fair amount of bulk so if things aren't "moving" that could account for a couple pounds. It sounds like you are weighing an measuring so keep going and don't give up. I hope your wedding day is very special.

@cheryldumais I have lost inches, I'm back in jeans I haven't worn for a year. Thank you, I'll keep at it, and I'll be a little more stringent with me tracking. xx

On that 4 week time scale, your menstrual cycle could be a factor, too. Many women add up to several pounds of water weight, and it could happen any time
from ovulation through menses. While it's there, it masks fat loss. When the water weight drops off . . . voilà, sudden scale drop, too. Patience will tell.
