Not healthy. Don't do it. This is a disordered eating plan.5
-
That's not a diet, that's a disorder.9
-
You're right - it isn't healthy. Neither is any other eating disorder.3
-
Both are woo diets. ACV does not do anything magical for weight loss and 5 bites diet is not healthy. Bottom line, don't bother with either. Prepping meals works for a lot of folks, and the weights and cardio are a great idea. I'd stick with that.4

That sounds insane, I can fit ALOT of food in my mouth in just one bite. So I'd end up overdoing it severely. I think alot of times we overthink the weightloss adventure. When really it's simple, eat less calories than you burn in a day. Eat what you want, just not to excess, get up and walk around every hour instead of sitting the whole day.
Five bites, I can eat a whole box of cereal in five bites. Insane.6 -
ACV does absolutely nothing for health or weight loss.
There's no way you could get all the nutrition you need in five bites every day. It's an anorexic diet.9 -
If it worked, Apples would be more valuable than gold.
If you are already doing the right thing, why are you reading and believing in fad diet tabloid garbage? If you are unhappy with the progress, I suggest working on your expectations as much as the lifting weights and cardio. I dont say this rudely, I mean it seriously. Often people "give up" because they have unrealistic expectations of how fast the body can burn fat.6 -
You already got some answers (pretty much the same as what people are saying here) in your other, identical thread: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10601954/5-bites-a-day-diet-hu6

In all seriousness, no short cuts. All these things that have the word "diet" in them are scams, and anything that promises fat loss that is not in relation to eating less than you burn, is garbage and money wasters!
The MFP process works, its tried and true it costs nothing but the food the buy and a food scale if you are serious about tracking calories correctly. Keep doing the cardio, strength training and keeping up with you calorie intake and you will see results.1 -
One of the red flags that a diet is probably just woo is the fact that it's not well defined. 5 bites of anything -- is that 5 total bites of dinner, or 5 bites each of lasagna, bread and salad? I'm pretty sure I could almost finish a piece of chocolate cake in 5 bites if I tried hard enough.
Weight loss is all about energy balance. If you burn more calories throughout the day, in all activities (including breathing, blinking, etc.) than you consume, you'll lose weight. There aren't any tips, tricks or special products that supersede that one basic principle. Set your goals with MFP, track your calories as accurately as you can, and be patient. You'll lose weight.2 -
The 5 bites diet was promoted by Dr. Oz and picked up by pro-anorexia sites. Wherever you read about it as a positive diet, I'd run far away from those corners of the internet.10

I was in a 5 bites a day Facebook group years ago. I can't even remember how i came across it.
I never did it , but i just couldn't look away from the posts day in day out. Snickers bars were popular 5 bite food items. I got kicked out in the end due my constant questions lol
2 words for those folks in the group.. Cray Cray.

Reminds me of when my husband offers me a bite of his food and I take the biggest bite possible and hand him back less than half of a sandwich. That would be the only way I could make the five bite diet work.
I had a friend who was doing the apple cider vinegar. That stuff is nasty. Just no.2 -
Acv is great..... as a salad dressing, on pulled pork, as a clarifying rinse for the hair
It does bubkiss for weight loss
Im sorry but as youve already discovered all you need is less calories in than calories going out
If you like eating extra at weekends then maybe view your calorie goal as a weekly thing. Eat a little less monday to friday so you can use those extra cals at the weekend4 -
Thanks!!!0

What's wrong with ACV... if you add to food you are eating and like the taste, that's great! But if your just taking it plain or diluted in some water? First it's gross. Second it's an acid so it's bad for your tooth enamel. Plus for some people it can increase acid reflux issues (for other people it can actually help acid reflux, but most people I've known who tried it for that it's made it worse). And there's really no way to know whether it did anything or not. So just take those couple of extra seconds and admire yourself in the mirror instead1 -
And if you've lost 40 lbs in 5 months, that's awesome! Just do your best on the weekends and don't beat yourself up for not being perfect. You've made amazing progress with nothing but your own effort.1

@JaydedMiss I'm not truingnto make it work simply asking real questions , seriously wanting to know , excuse me for asking .. smh if it's not gonna work it's not gonna work , I can't make it work ... I've just heard alot about it .. obviously I'm on the rite track I workout 6days a week an try very hard to eat less than or my exact calorie goal ... nothing wrong with asking questions an learning3
-
@kimny72 thank you , that was the reply I was looking for your FACTs make me understand, your awesome an I try ... It's just a slow process an just needed info from real people over than Google, thanks for being polite!!! And your rite I do need to take a few seconds an appropriate how far I've come!! Thanks3

That just sounds really stupid. You probably get a max of like 400 calories at most from that.1

Op, i did the 2 shots of acv a day for quite a few months. The only thing this achieved for me was a pure and utter hatred of vinegar.
I did it a few years ago and i am still tainted, even the smell of the stuff brings back flashbacks of psyching myself up for the shot, the aftershock shudders and I'm sure i gave myself extra wrinkles from all the face contorting i did
In short... It did absolutely nothing to aid weight loss.4 -
I had ACV every day for months for something unrelated to weight loss. It didn't help with the other thing, and it didn't help with weight loss.1
-
I couldn't imagine just downing Apple Cider Vinegar. I'll give you all props because I wouldn't be able too.0

Healthier than the cotton ball diet, I would reckon. Which is real and just like it sounds.1
-
I actually like the taste of ACV and *could* drink it straight ... but I don't. I like it splashed on greens though. Like the others said, it's just a fad. KOKO with the weight loss progress you've been making though, OP!

@rickiimarieee don't think ill bebtruimg it haha if it doesn't help the it's not worth it an everyone's opinions on the taste is quite alarming hahaha ...1
