Vodka for your abs!

This is such pure marketing genius that I just had to share. New on the market in NZ, RTD of sparkling water, whey-based vodka (who even knew that was a thing, gotta love Kiwi ingenuity!), and...amino acids... (and flavour, erythritol and stevia). This is totally marketed at the fitness crowd.

Taste, pretty good actually! Pretty much exactly how you would expect flavoured sparkling water with vodka in it to taste. Also, goes straight to your head if you're not used to drinking and have just climbed a big hill.

No idea of calories, but have put an enquiry into the company. For now I'm just logging it as a standard nip of vodka.

I would drink that. Perhaps it'll get shipped to Australia soon? :D

It does have a slight aftertaste from the erythritol (though by the second bottle you won't even notice), and I admit I was too wary of the potential unpleasant side effects of erythritol to have more than two...

I'm in New Zealand, I like vodka and soda water once in a blue moon..I don't feel inclined to switch to this stuff though because of the erythritol..nice marketing ploy though..no alcohol manufacturer has targeted the fitness industry before.

They must not televise the Michelob Ultra beer commercials down there, then. They show people exercising, then drinking Ultra afterwards as if it's some kind of sports drink, lol.

Mostly I'm just trying to find convenient things to drink since I can no longer have beer ( :'( ). Love cider, but the calories if I'm having more than one...at home I'm probably more likely to just go for mixing my own. I'm going to try Smirnoff Pure next, higher cal than what I'm assuming these ones to be, but if I'm having more than a couple that trade off for no dire consequences is worth it (and still a little lower cal than beer, which again, I can't have anyway).

I am slightly curious if the amino acids would help stave off hangovers (there is some evidence for this, 'tis why eggs are such a good hangover food).

Don't like vodka, it gives me a head ache.
Do they offer it with gin, or rum at a pinch?

I really got into flavoured gins with soda water last year.

    Cheers, h.

Wow, I'm not impressed that it's whey based... I asked them if it was vegan and they said it was, so I've been drinking it, not knowing that it is actually processed with milk. Very disappointing.

I guess it was a bit sickly sweet for me anyway- and mixing my own vodka sodas is cheaper and has less un-needed add ins. I was just so excited to finally find a sugar free vodka soda RTD. :(

Oh suck! That is really bad on their part. I couldn't find anything on their website about it being whey-based, saw it in this article: https://concreteplayground.com/auckland/food-drink/an-auckland-personal-trainer-has-created-fitness-vodka/

I would be sending them a very angry email if I was you.
