I normally have my protein set pretty high. But I know I won't be getting in quite as much now that I'm trying to eat more vegan should I lower it? For those of you who are vegan what pertentages do you have your macros set to?

Vega protein powder I get it at target but they sell it a lot of places, 25g of protein for a scoop plus vitamins and minerals. I wouldn't lower protein if you can help it. Mine was too low for a while and it's not pretty.0

What happened when you had it too low?0 -
My hair was thinning, nails weaker, hard to keep and build muscle tone, fatigued faster, probably other stuff too but this is what I noticed a difference in when I started getting more protein, around 100 grams a day.1

I tend to eat more plant based and I have come to enjoy seitan as a protein source. It is high protein for the lower calories. 2 oz is around 100 calories and 15 grams of protein. You definitely don't need the 150+ grams of protein some people try and tell you need but I would shoot for 85-100, this greatly depends on your weight and height though. @janejellyroll is a vegan and usually gives some great advice so maybe she could weigh in here?2

I'm vegetarian (not vegan) but most of my protein comes from fake meat. I use the MFP settings: 20% Protein, 30% Fat, 50% Carbohydrates. If I have a very cheesey day, carbs and fat might swap. High protein foods I ate this week:
- Morning Star Farms - Chipotle Black Bean Burger 1/4 lb Size, 1 Burger: 190 cals, 17 g protein
- Morning Star - Chik Patties Original: 160 cals, 9 g protein
- Kirkland Signature Hummus: 160 cals, 4 g protein (listed because I eat it a LOT)
- Gardein - Golden Fishless Filet, 1 container: 540 calories, 27 g protein
- Gardein - Homestyle Beefless Tips, 1 container: 425 calories, 48 g protein
- Tofurky - Tempeh-smoky Maple Bacon, 4 slices: 87 cals, 8 g protein
- Dr. Praeger's - Spinach Cakes, 4 Cakes: 300 cals, 8 g protein
I think MOST of those things are vegan. All are non-dairy/lactose-free. Gardein is my go to for dinner. 1 bag of gardein + veggies, boom dinner.1 -
I would like to put Quorn on the table as a decent brand of protein not made from soy( I don't like to get too much soy). You can find it in the natural/health food freezer section. Pretty good taste and texture.
My favorite high protein meal is 3 scambled eggs(if you eat eggs), kidney beans, quorn chicken cutlet cut up, onions and cheese with BBQ sauce. I eat them with 2 corn tortillas.1 -
I don't have specific goals, but I usually hit around 50-60% carbohydrates, 20-30% fat, and 10-20% protein.
I get most of my protein from beans, tofu, tempeh, and seitan and round it out with the protein in vegetables and grains. Occasionally I'll have a protein shake or bar, most often when I'm travelling.3 -
Thank you so much everyone for all the help. I'm still trying to figure this all out.0

Quorn is amazing! Just keep in mind that a lot of them are vegetarian but not vegan.
I wish they sold this in Canada.0 -

I average 50% carbs, 20% protein, 30% fat. Right on target for MFP defaults, even though I don't pay much attention to macros. I actually had to go look up what my averages were and was really surprised to see that I was hitting the recommendations.
I get a lot of my protein from breakfast, which is Greek yogurt with protein powder, soy milk, chocolate PB2 (or chocolate chips sometimes), and fiber cereal mixed together. Of course if you're vegan, the Greek yogurt isn't an option. I like Orgain protein powder, which is vegan.
I also have a stash of protein bars in my desk. I wind up eating those pretty often.
Dinner usually includes tofu/tempeh/etc. Tonight it's peanut butter tofu with broccoli and rice.0 -
I know its good to know how others work this. You should also be able to find acceptable ideas/menu's on line because there are several vegan sites with good advice. Caveat, be sure your information is reputable not someone's ill informed blog.0
