Does MFP change your calories as you lose weight?

Hello everyone!
I'm a returnee but never really posted on the boards before - this may be my first post ever! I've been back at MFP since mid-August and down 12lbs already
My questions is - will MFP automatically change my calorie goal as I lose weight or will I have to go in and manually enter my new weight and have it recalculate my calories? If I do need to do it manually, at what point/how often should I do it? I imagine I'm still quite a ways from needing to change my calorie intake to continue losing but thought I'd throw the question out there.
I've read most of the stickies on this board and in the "General Weight Loss" board and couldn't seem to find any info on this. If it's there, I'd love some direction in finding it
Thanks for reading and (hopefully) replying!

I never trusted MFP to do that for me. I re-ran the wizard after each 5 lb loss. Each time my calories went down, so, at least the first year I used it, it did not adjust automatically. It may now but I still wouldn't trust it. Re-run the wizard to be safe.2

Yeh, what Spliner said. I went to Goals every ten pounds and readjusted. Not sure if it will do it automatically, when I was losing it didn't.0

Ok, thanks to you both! Did you change your starting weight to your current weight then?0

In my profile I did not change my starting weight, otherwise it won't keep track overall of what you've lost since you started. I only change the starting weight in the wizard when I re-calculated calories.0

NO, just go to MY HOME > Goals > view guided setup

It does it every 10 lbs - it asks if you want to.
The calorie change just isn't that much otherwise.0 -
Yes, every 10 lbs that you lose, provided you are checking in. That said, if your cals are 1200/day (1500 for a man), it will not lower them anymore, so what will happen is your weight loss will slow slightly (which is a good thing, when you have less to lose)0

I went there and just hit "update profile" and my calories did change a bit. Thanks for your help!
And thanks to everyone else for helping as well Happy Thanksgiving weekend to any Canadians!2 -
I didn't realize until this post that mine hadn't changed. 15 pounds down and there is a difference in calories! Good I read this!2

MFP has never advised me to change calories, and I went a good 40 lbs. before I changed them myself. I wouldn't wait for a reminder, just run a recalc every 5 to 10 lbs.1
