I've noticed that a lot of people are using the word "bump" on these forums. What exactly does it mean? Is it an american thing or what? :huh:

It's a way to bookmark the topic so that you can re-visit later.0

I think the original usage was from when people would "bump" a topic to the top of the list so that it was highly visible. For example: if the information was interesting, or if the original poster wanted to refresh the topic for responses.
However, it appears to be more widely used in this forum as a way for people to "bookmark" the thread for further reference.0 -

I think it is so the thread will receive more answers and it bumps it to the top of the list as to not get lost.0
