5'2" 166lbs woman - weight loss journey

I feel alone. I understand everyone's body is different but is there anyone out there like me?? I have a bad relationship with food and beer. Today was the first day of this journey, I ate healthy and worked out for 30 minutes this is tough is there any advice anyone can give me?? Or give me hope that it's possible to get down to a healthy weight (current goal weight is 135lbs) pictures would be awesome! I need some inspiration/hope/etc.!

I love food and beer and have had two kids. I have since my tweens struggled with weight. 5'3" 155-172 up and down within this range since I can remember. Today I am 140. About two years ago I was 7 months postpartum and 165. For me it's getting up everyday and doing my best to make the right choices on eating and exercising. Some days I fail at both or just one. But the next day I do better. And I'm chipping away at it.

I use to have a love hate relationship with food and alcohol. I no longer drink hardly ever except special occasions, and I have finally learned to portion my food and eat every 2-3 hours small snacks in between breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I don't eat after 6:30 I try to make sure I drink atleast 60 ounces of water a day or more! I am 5ft 3 and I started at 163lbs in April I am now at 133lbs. You can do this just make small goals first! Like 5lbs then when you reach that goal make another goal of another 5lbs and before you know it you will be at your goal! I just try to plan what I want to eat the next day on my fitness pal. At first I was doing as I ate but now I find it better to plan so then I can see how many calories I would be eating and what my macros would be so I can add or remove what wouldn't work for me. I have a love hate relationship with alcohol and smoking. it's terrible. I also deal with depression and anxiety as well (currently in therapy). oh and food. on good days I do great. on bad days I do terrible. there is no middle ground. I've been struggling to lose weight for a while now, and right now my son is away with grandma and I'm trying to get into a routine.
Stats: 5'2", 165ish lbs. Goal 125-130 depending on how I look and feel when I get there.
My motivation is my son. I promised him that when he comes back I will be healthier, not only for him but for me. I just try and get up every day and do something. Logging what I eat generally helps keep me on track. Just have to keep moving. And if you have a bad day, let it go, and move forward. no use dwelling on it.

5'2" here as well. Currently at 202 lbs. After yo-yoing during my college years I gave up trying and climbed to over 220 lbs. I'm reclaiming my body and building a healthy relationship with it and food. I am also battling PCOS and it makes things a little difficult but a healthy diet, monitoring my intake, and a 4-day gym routine (I love Zumba) is working wonders. It's also important to remember that everyone carries their weight differently. A number can't tell you much. You can do this. If I can, you definitely can. Feel free to message me anytime5

I had similar stats to you in the beginning. I am also 5'2" and started at 155lb back in December 2016. The first 5-6 months I mostly just counted calories, didn't exercise much (no gym membership and I live in a cold climate so it was hard to get outside to walk). In those first months I lost 10lb. After that I kicked up the exercise (walked 20 minutes on my lunch break then walked 30 minutes 4/5 nights week) and continued counting calories. The weight fell off quickly. I've lost 26lb total, 17lb alone since early June.
I also had a problem with food (overeating mainly) and loved adult beverages.. I still do! But I set a goal, stuck to my plan and reached my goal about a month ago. I'm currently trying to figure out maintenance and have been successfully maintaining.. hoping to maybe drop a few more but if not that's ok. You can do it, you just have to stick to it and know it'll work. Best of luck.

You can do this! I'm also 5'2", started losing weight in January at 208 lbs, down to 176 as of this morning and aiming for 135 by the end of 2018. I'm taking the long road, clearly, but I do NOT want to be back in this position again. I gained most of that weight between 2010 and 2016 when I went through a couple of major life change (law school, meeting my spouse) and got into some bad over-indulgent habits. I still love drinking and eating and don't want that to change, which is one reason why I decided on a longer-term goal than most. I only started upping my exercise in August and have been bitten by the running bug something bad, although there too I'm taking it really slow, and sadly am on a self-induced break until I can buy new shoes (tomorrow, fingers crossed).
The advice I'd give you is (predictably) be okay with the idea that this might take a long time, but know that every day you don't gain weight is a success. Accept that some days will be better than others and don't let that derail you. Focus on calories for weight-loss, and exercise for fitness. And don't be afraid to ask for help! Good luck!8 -
Hello, you have received some really good advice. I would just like to add that you need to be kind and gentle with yourself. Set small goals and be patient with yourself. You can get there.9

time. patience. understand weight fluctuates. learn how to measure your food CORRECTLY. dont freak out when you eat 'too much' or indulge in a special meal. one meal, even a whole weekend of bad meals, isnt going to make you fat.
im 5'1, was 295 when i started 3 years ago and am 160 now.
i eat what i want, just maybe not as MUCH as id really LIKE to. I dont eat pizza, but its because i dont like it. i do drink beer. and liquor. and sweets. and everything, everyone ELSE eats. but my portions are much much smaller than they used to be.5 -
hello- You are definitely NOT alone- I am 5 feet 2 inches. I started here at 167 and now I am 151 pounds- down 16 lbs. You will get there- don't give up- keep logging, keep trying and do your best- It does take time but it will happen. I have learned to figure in my snacks- at least I would stall because I would eat and then snack at night- but now I eat smaller meals and figure in my night time snacks(because I MUST have my snacks lol) and I STILL lose-CICO amazing!!!!5
