In my opinion as a nurse, if you vary from a balanced diet (Mediterranean, Dash, Vegetarian), and really before embarking on any major weight change journey or exercise plan, it's wise to consult with your personal physician. You could end up hurting yourself.

I did Keto for awhile last year. I read a lot to figure out my macros and I bought a Keto blood monitor . It worked for awhile but I found it very restrictive and difficult to maintain. I wish you all the best at it though! After awhile I got tired of pricking my finger too to see if I was in Ketosis.

Your calorie goal will be the same as any other way of eating, but you will need to manually adjust your macro distribution. Join the Low carber group - lots of veterans in there who will be able to help you out. I eat all the carbs so I'm no use :) Good luck!

Keto is a restriction/eating habit. Yes it'll help you lose weight, just make sure whatever you do WHILE losing weight is something you can sustain during maintenance. I see so many people focus on restriction diets to lose weight but then when they hit their weight goals they go back to their non restrictive diets and gain it back and more.

Keto has been around for awhile now. Do your own research, test the waters for a few months to see if it's something you want to do.

Try a low carb diet. If its not something you can continue, or are not meeting your goals, switch to plain old calorie counting & eat the same way you used to eat, just lesser.
Whatever you do, buy a kitchen scale and log accurate weight and entries here in your mfp diary.
