swim circuits instructor said my swimming was, 'pretty awesome', and that I should definitely be doing the advance circuits class - tis unfortunate that that class isn't really possible due to when I need to get to work but I shall give it a go!! see how late I am grinned so big!22

I cycled a race of 65km in the fasted time ever. Also was my further distance in all time. And my heart rate was mostly in zone 4.Super proud of myself.25

Bought a long sleeved tech shirt in February for a triathlon I was training for - was bummed that it was a little tight around the midsection. Still wore the shirt a few times and put away for the summer.
Just pulled it out of storage yesterday and now the midsection feels fine - it’s the shoulders that are tight. The kicker is that I weight 4 lbs more than I did in February! Finally figuring out this recomp thing.29 -
I was able to get my wedding ring on! I had not worn it in a while as it felt my finger had a tourniquet on. I thought about getting it resized. Some days this week it felt loose!22

Umm... you can’t just tell us you adopted a rescue dog without posting pics. Internet etiquette!
Seriously, well done! You’re the absolute best role model for your children.
I agree with this. If not here, at least in the Chit Chat puppy pictures thread (but let us know here that you did).4 -
@Heather4448, @Tacklewasher - Fair enough. I will upload a pic after I get home. The hard part is going to be deciding which one(s). I am already unbelievably attached to him. He has adjusted to our family with lightning speed. Since just Sunday night he has already gotten the entire family moving! Everybody wants to walk with him. Best doggo ever.19

I shrunk back into one of my favorite shirts, just in time for picture day at work! It's still a big snug in a few places, but I'm so excited to be able to wear it!16

When the nurse took my blood pressure she grabbed the normal size one and didn’t have to go get the xl one. That was such a big moment for me. Also can tell I have so much more strength to ride on the slides st the water park with my oldest.19

Never thought I would ever wear skinny jeans. NSV is that I got some, they fit great (SUCH a hassle to get on and off though! ) and they are perfect with my new rocks!
Also, got a funky new tshirt.
Another NSV was that I made myself continue shopping for 3 hours to find suit trousers and jacket for interview tomorrow. I hate clothes shopping - but I did it, and they look ok!35 -
I bought size M shirts from Target last night for the first time in... probably 10 years! And they were on clearance for $3 each!
Also, this is sort of scale-related, but I'm really proud – I've finally reached a normal BMI!28 -
Someone actually said I was 'too skinny' at the gym today. She also thought I was a teenager - I get that a lot now that I've lost weight. Some people may be offended by that but it made me smile. Considering I was obese just beginning of last year, to now have people telling you you're slim, it makes a lovely change. I still have a few pounds I want to lose yet, but it seems suddenly everyone has noticed I've lost weight.22

Since DH and I have both lost weight this year, we bought new wedding rings today. Mine fit without being resized! First time I've ever bought a ring without having to "size up". DH also got a new ring and it's 2 sizes smaller.23

I was actually able to say no to cupcakes yesterday.31

It's gotten too cold to wear summer shoes, and none of my winter shoes fit. My feet are too small for all my shoes from last year! I honestly didn't expect this. I guess this is a victory but now I need shoes, my only shoes that fit are sandals and my running shoes. Making an emergency shoe run today.

My daughter's 12th birthday was Monday. I got her a birthday cake...a yummy vanilla sheetcake w/ loads of buttercream frosting. I cut myself a piece, weighed it (ignoring my husband's side-eye) and enjoyed every single bite. And I was satisfied w/ that one piece and haven't even been tempted by the leftover cake since!35

While cleaning up a bit I found a pair of pants that used to be very snug back in early May. Now however:

Soooo, today's NSV is that I went to the gym this morning.
Not the most exciting, or the most remarkable. You're thinking, "And? I do that all the time! That's not a major achievement!"
Until you understand the circumstances . . .
I've been fighting a major flare of psoriatic arthritis (an auto-immune disease that causes inflammation of the joints etc) for the last twelve months. I was only diagnosed in July 2016, when I was going into remission after a small flare (but I didn't know it then). This latest flare started when I had an IUD fitted. In trying to control the flare, I've been on several unpleasant treatments which have been largely unsuccessful, mainly due to the side effects (for some reason I am always the 1,000,000:1 who gets the "rare" side effects). I've had hair loss, abdominal issues, extreme photo-sensitivity (which brings its own problems in copious amounts of sun block and low vitamin d levels), blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc.
Unfortunately, the way the NHS works in the UK for conditions such as these is that unless there is a reason not to (such as allergies to drugs or contraindications) the cheapest treatments get tried first - I can see some logic in this as who knows which treatment is going to work for which individual BUT it didn't work for me (and wouldn't have, if you read the research and guidelines), so I've been getting increasingly worse and worse whilst the consultants keep changing my medications.
I can cope with the joint pain most of the time (I don't take pain killers as, yep, I get the extreme side effects from them which are worse to deal with than the joint pain) but the fatigue is an absolute killer. Exercise actually helps loosen the stiff joints, so I've been walking as much as I can. cycling as much as I can (although I've had to cut back a bit, due to the fatigue and the awful weather) and I've taken up running this year.
I started going to the gym last December as I'd been told that I needed to do strength training to help my joints. And I loved, loved, loved it. Had no problem with getting up at 5am to go and do my workout. Until about 3 months ago when my arthritis got so bad that I just couldn't get up at 5am. It was physically impossible. I'd sleep through the alarm, or switch it off in my sleep. I hated going to the gym later in the day (I prefer an empty gym) so it got to a point where I stopped going. Each night I'd think to myself, "I am getting up in the morning to go to the gym." and every morning I'd sleep through the alarm. Then I'd wake up, furious with myself. But I couldn't change things as I was just so tired.
I cannot describe the fatigue. It totally dominates body and soul. Looking after a newborn who needs feeding every two hours (and then takes an hour to feed) was a breeze by comparison. I couldn't see an end to the fatigue, ever, especially when the last time I saw the consultant, he said that there were at least another ten medications available to try
Three weeks ago, after a six-week wait for them to be prescribed and dispensed/delivered, my meds were changed yet again, to a different type of drug. By this point, over half of my joints were affected by the inflammation and I'm still getting worse. So I start the drugs, with very little enthusiasm or even slight hope that they'd work. I don't appear to be suffering any side effects, after being terrified about side effects by the nurse who was present when I injected the first dose (the nurse was precautionary in case of anaphylactic shock) until a couple of weeks later when my arm and hand went numb (yep, a "rare" side effect that indicates that nerve damage). Got checked out by a doctor who said that it was the median nerve into the hand being compressed, either because of the arthritis/inflammation in my wrist or water retention due to the new drug but that he was happy that it wasn't the drug causing nerve damage.
Anyway, the issue resolved itself over the next few days, I've been continuing the treatment and my psoriasis and arthritis have actually been getting better. My skin is almost clear (I've had psoriasis for the last 30-odd years and the only time it's been this good before have been during pregnancy when the immune system is naturally suppressed). People don't stare at my skin (not that I cared, it was just another "thing" to deal with from those who lack knowledge). I can walk virtually pain-free (getting better day by day). Cycling is easier. I feel more like me, rather than the person who was suffering with this overwhelming, horrible, tiring disease. I'm not quite as fatigued either and I feel pretty good in comparison to recent times.
But I digress. Last night, I went to bed, yet again thinking, "I am getting up in the morning to go to the gym." but not really expecting to
Woke up this morning BEFORE the alarm went off (despite a late night, later than I wanted) and got out of bed the minute the alarm went off. I was in the gym by 5.25am, hitting the weights again.
And I absolutely loved it. I had to lower some of my weights a little, but I was there, doing it. I was sweating like a crazy thing by the end. My muscles are sore and "glowing", I have no doubt that I've gained weight due to water retention but I don't care, I really don't!
I WENT TO THE GYM!
And to those who saw me as I left, yes, I probably did look like a crazy thing as I just couldn't stop grinning, I was so happy to be back there.72 -
Beyond awesome, Madwife. Respect!1

You are a rockstar, @Madwife2009! I remember the first time I went to the gym after almost a year and a half hiatus due to illness. It IS a major acheivement!7

Two years ago I bought a pair of extra-wide calf knee-high boots. The first year, my fingers were torn to shreds after fighting with the zipper. Last year, I couldn't zip them on at all. Yesterday, I tried them on and they zipped up with absolutely no resistance!33

So much props @Madwife2009!
Today I two NSV...
An email went out saying there was delicious carrot cake and my officemate brought a slice to our office and I did not eat any of it!
I made soup from scratch for the first time (260 calories without the crackers...I didn't end up eating the crackers in the end because it was a bit stale). Seafood and veggie soup:

I went to Chick-fil-a for dinner and an ice cream to soothe my sore throat (lecturing for 2.5 hours will do that to a person) Generally I would have gotten a sandwich, fries, and a sweet tea. Today I got a salad and water.16

Heather4448 wrote: »Another unusual NSV for me: I fell down the stairs about 10 years ago and fractured my (R) knee. (I slipped on a hot wheels parking lot. Thanks, Kids.) Today it was hurting a lot for some reason. Then I suddenly realized— I used to have this level of knee pain (or worse) every single day! 108# down and my bones thank me. Pain is an unusual occurrence these days.
not only is body losing weight but it goes through a healing crisis and re-visits old healed issues etc., I have that every now and again and I remind myself its just my body healing9 -
I work remote, either at home or on the road. Travel 50/50, officially assigned to the corporate office staff. I had not been into the office for over a year. When I said hello to co-workers who know me...have been in the field with me, I got blank stares. I finally realized I had changed so much in the last year...they had no idea who I was until I started talking common business.25

As I was doing laundry today, I picked up a pair of jeans and wondered how my daughter's jeans got in the wash. I knew that wasn't possible since she's away in college. Then I realized they were my jeans! They looked so small. I was used to seeing a women's (size 20) jeans. I'm looking forward to shopping for size 12 now.32

I dont have to shop in plus size anymore!!! Went to grab hubby some work shirts and decided to try some jeans to get my size. I started last december as a 24... so i tried 18's, too big. 16's too big... went to REGULAR sizes and tried on 14's and they fit and i didnt have to try to suck in my gut or anything!46

Sometimes I actually cry when I am running...such a dork....not because I am running but because I AM running. Bought new running shoes after having a foot analysis done. These shoes are magnificent! Thats the biggest NSV I think...that I am now seeking tools to help me be a better ATHLETE. Love reading this thread! Each and every post is wonderful! Carry on peeps!31
