NSV & going out HELP

Options
Hey guys! I’m so excited! I’ve been feeling down because I’ve been bouncing between 168-171 for the past 3 weeks! I’ve continued to work out & watch my calorie intake since switching from WW, but yesterday I got the big kick of motivation I needed by trying on & successfully fitting into a size 8! Woop woop! I started off as a size 14/15! & I also bought a pair of workout pants that were medium! I started off as a XL! Definitely gave me another spark of motivation to keep pushing! I need to remind myself this is a lifestyle & it’s going to take time to get to my goal (150lbs)

I was curious how everyone handles going out? On Friday & Saturday we are going out with friends downtown and going to a casino! I wanna enjoy myself but I don’t want to fly off the rails! I’ve read some people will eat at maintainance for special occasions which i consider the casino to be! Any advice is welcome!♥️ below are some before and during pics of my journey!

Starting weight : 197
Goal weight : 150

Congrats on your NSV!!! Thats always motivation to keep going. You look fabulous!

You'll get tons on responses, on how folks handle going out, the thing is every one is different. So pick what sounds like the closest to your mindset.

Here how I handle outing (especially planned a head outings)

I make sure that I work out everyday I can, leading up to going out. I make sure that everyday Im eat under my calories ( I don't eat any workout calories back, kinda like banking them for the weekend)

The day off, I make sure that I have eaten something before getting to the destination ( I usually have a snack in the car to the outing), so that I'm not starving and making bad decisions based off of hunger.

Drinks... I try to keep them lower cal a vodka with a splash of juice and soda water with ice. I also make sure I am drinking water .

If there is a restaurant involved, I stalk the menu before hand and figure out the best option. Also I stay clear of any premeal offerings ( bread or chips)

Then the following day, I eat & drink as clean as possible.

I agree with the above response! I make sure to squeeze a workout in almost every day leading up to the event planned. It's usually a quick 30-45 minute jog or other type of workout, nothing too intense! I also eat lighter the day of the event, saving my room to dinner and drinks! Load up on water too because I'm sure your body will want to retain some because of the increase in sodium from restaurant foods. Liquor or wine are your go too drinks as well! Everyone needs to have a night out of fun! Just log everything to the best of your ability and get back to your normal habits the next day! Have fun!

Congrats on your progress!! You've done so well already.

Honestly, you could eat at maintenance 6 days a week and still reach your goals - but it will slow you down. Once a month or once a week and you'll still see steady progress that gives you that motivation to keep going! If you need more room than maintenance, I would definitely try to get in a workout before going out (not while hungover, yikes). Also consider that going out can involve dancing, walking around for a while, and other things that might help burn off the excess. Stay hydrated and have fun!

You can eat lighter during the week before to "bank" some calories. Don't drink sugary cocktails, stick with wine or liquor and soda. Go protein heavy and carb light for dinner (steak is often a good option calorie wise). And have fun.

Great advice given above. I just want to add a little bit that comes from personal experience.

If you are having a good night out and drinks are involved, don't cut back on your breakfast and lunch that day.

Honestly, getting all nicely dressed up can be a complete waste if the first drink, or 2 goes straight to your head.

Yup, I did that a few too many times before it dawned on me that saving my cals for dinner was counter productive.

Now, I just write off that high day as part of life. Much better than you slowly slipping under the table in a drunkrn haze.

    Cheers, h.
