Success / struggles of the week : I've spent pretty much whole week trying to bring my weight down, it jumped up due to too much snacking and grabbing anything and everything that looks good. And we have too many things at home that do appeal to me, so it was non stop for a few days starting last week, and the weight crept up. Add a glass of wine here and there, and that prompts more trips to the kitchen for more food. It worries me, when i have those days when i can't get enough, what it can lead to. I didn't have much time to exercise on top of that. So i had to rain myself in a little, to get the numbers to go down some. I'm comforted by the fact that i can control the damage, and get back on track after some not so good nights, because it's usually nights, when i get into trouble.7 -

This is exactly why a range for maintenance is a great idea, like you've done. I would count this week as a big win because you made needed adjustments. WTG!3 -

@JustRobby1 May I act as a mom for a minute? I, too, had trouble when in maintenance at first and lost way too much weight. Yes, I am a runner and while I don't run races, I run 25-35 miles/week. I probably eat 2000-3000 calories most days and have found my "happy place" (apologies to Adam Sandler). Relax and don't worry about the numbers. Are you comfortable in your skin and clothes? Are you happy with your fitness plan? You will be fine.
Love, Mom7 -
@mk2fit I appreciate your concern. Ironically enough my actual mother is convinced that I must be anorexic or something and is worried about me. She calls and texts daily now. Its just an adjustment period, and one I am having difficulty with, but I am sure I will get my bearings soon. 3000+ is just an awful lot of calories. I got to 3200 today (ran 7 miles earlier) but I feel over full and gross as a result. Maybe it's just because it is a feeling that is so unfamiliar to me. Being full I mean.
I am not 100% content with my body right now, but who is? It's not a weight issue, I just have stretch marks, loose skin in places, and other reminders of my former self that are annoying (and unfortunately permanent barring me winning the lotto).
I find staying busy helps more than anything. So focus on my job at work and my running after work. I completed my first half marathon on Sept. 24th of this year and my goal is to complete a full by the end of 2018. As soon as I am comfortable that I have my weight stabilized and under control I can start training for it.
Thanks again for your concern.4 -

Success / struggles of the week : Still having issues figuring out "maintainance". My brain is still on "lose, lose, lose". My stomach is still happy on less food. I have gradually moved from "low cal" food to the regular and adding more bread, pasta and grains than I had been eating. Beefing up snacks. Still can't get to 1800. But I do know that I look frail in the lower levels of the 140's so I need to figure this out fast...LOL But, what's good is, that I'll be spending a week very soon at an all inclusive resort, so I'll more than likely gain a good bit back...LOL
Successes: Count down to vacation: 19 days! Tried on swimsuits over the weekend. They look better, but a few are too big. Made a last ditch effort to order a few more in smaller sizes. Hopefully at least one of those works. Swimsuits are hard no matter what weight you are.5 -

30th October:
Success/struggles of the week: My weight is back in my range and so far the trend has stayed in range too. I am trying to eat more calories daily, but sometimes it is difficult. I feel very satisfied on what I am eating and I feel very happy with my activity level. A few family members think I need to cut back my activity. They think I run too much and am too active but I think they are wrong. I don't think that 30 minutes of yoga 5 times per week and running 4 days (~16 miles per week) is excessive exercise. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. I feel really good. I do have some loose skin and maybe that makes me look more wrinkled than before, but I am hoping that it will tighten up some. Besides, I'm 49 years old. I don't think I look older than 49, but I certainly don't look like I'm in my 20's like the last time I was this weight.4 -

Your exercise routine doesn't sound too excessive to me, being active is so important for our health, so if that works for you, keep it up. And who cares about few extra wrinkles, i think we've earned the right to wear them proudly. When my mom pointed mine out to me, i was shocked that she did that, it was so offensive, i thought. So i asked her if she thought that i should fill them back up with fat. Sometimes even people who love us the most could be a little insensitive, for whatever reason, probably not realizing that's the way they are coming across.4 -

Success/struggles of the week: Success - I am very busy this month and under some pressure. Typically, I overeat under pressure, but I haven't really done so lately. Struggles - I've been sick for about a week and did not have the energy to exercise. Also, I did not have the energy to cook much, so I did not eat high-quality foods.2 -

Yikes. Don't you hate when something gets posted before you're done updating it!
Anyhoo, blush, to continue:
Success/ Struggles: still enjoying pondering my options now that I'm in my maintenance range: am gradually, and more haphazardly than I intended, reducing my daily deficit. At the same time, am thinking would be nice to be in the lower part of my range. I'll see how it goes and what's tolerable in the coming weeks and what's not! Wishing y'all a wonderful fresh new week!2 -

I even got into the 153s for several days which is where I would like to be. My trend line in back in range, which has been hard to do. I'm enjoying my Women on Weights class at the Y. The first week was bodyweight/resistance bands, last week was Precor machines, this week will be the cable machines. I've had to cut back my swimming schedule because I am limited how many times a week I can make the 35 minute trip to the Y, but that's ok. It's fun to learn some new options for weights. I've been doing a bit more on my elliptical at home and set a new PB yesterday. My "training goal" now is to improve my hiking endurance to 10 miles with 3000 ft elevation gain. If I can do that by next summer, I can hike just about any trail in our area. Currently I know I can do 2000 ft gain. My cardio is pretty good but always room to improve, it's mostly the leg endurance uphill and DOWN for that much change.

Challenges of the week: Stretching and sleep still suffering. Had a bad night the other night with a binge that ended in a purge. Haven't done that in a verrrrrrry long time. So I am vaguely aware of what I feel, but it's buried pretty deeply under various self defenses, including food.3 -

Struggles: IT band injury sucks! I am having a huge mental struggle with this. Even with the no running, my weight dropped to 109 which is not a good look for me. My husband is getting a little freaked out about my loss and the distances that I am running. I am a little bit of a mess. I did a trial run yesterday but my knee ached around mile 2 which freaked me out so I just walked the rest of the way.
Strengths: I followed the rehab plan for my it band and started strong curves early as I think the additional work on my leg musculature and gluteus will help with the rehab. I am going to try and do the zombie mud run tomorrow and if I can do it without pain, I may try an 8mile run on Monday to see if I can do the 1/2 marathon next Sunday.
Upcoming week plan: Like I said, I have to keep on rehabing this knee.
@kgirlhart and @JustRobby1 -seems like we are all struggling with maintenance while running. I’m sending out positive vibes that we can keep on doing our runs while figuring out the best way to fuel them and keep our desired weights in check. Like people say, it’s just about finding your sweet spot.
@CoachJen71 I just want to say that we are here and support you.6 -

Successes/struggles- I’m getting increasingly frustrated with myself. Honestly, while I was in weight loss, I didn’t understand all of the talk about people having trouble following their plans and not over eating. The structure and discipline came relatively easy for me, I didn’t stray from my plan for over 5 months. But now that I’m in maintenance, I’m finding it so much harder to stay focused. Everything is definitely going up and I’m super frustrated. When I was losing I was far too stringent, but now I’m too loose. Struggling to find the medium. Think I need to go back into loss mode for a week or two, then rework the maintenance plan.8 -

Others posts on this thread, have helped me a lot. This past week, I really have felt a lot less anxious and fearful of regaining. Looking forward to a great October! Don't ya just love Fall?
Oct 20-weight 128.4#
I’m not too concerned. I’m still in my goal range. Plus I bumped up the amount of weight I’m lifting in my weight training workouts about 2 weeks ago. Hopefully weight is up some as I’m building more muscle!
Successes: It’s been one year since my surgery and I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve been in years!!!
Oct 27- weight- 127.8#
Down .6 #. Yay! ...from last week
Challenges this past week: I know I continue to snack too much in evening and still not getting enough water. Plan to try harder with these the coming week.
Successes: Not gaining more and staying in my goal maintenance weight range!2 -

I don't think I look older than 49, but I certainly don't look like I'm in my 20's like the last time I was this weight.
@kgirlhart You’re exercise routine is definitely not excessive. Sounds Superb to me. I totally agree with Icemom!2 -

Succcess/struggles of the week: it’s been a busy and stressful week but generally ok. My aim going forward is to dial my workouts back massively: two runs, two interval training days, one mild yoga day. Until recently I was doing an hour+ , 6 days/week. The past week I’ve been totally tired- like falling asleep by 9 tired, which is unheard of for me! Considering I’m not gaining weight, and I’m eating tons, I’m not stressing on missing workouts but am listening to my body- maybe this is just a season of rest and I’m ok with that.7 -

Success/struggles of the week: It would appear that I am starting to zero in on a caloric balance that keeps my weight relatively stable, which is encouraging. If I keep up my normal weekly routine of running 40 miles, I need roughly 3400 calories per day to maintain. It continues to be a bit of a challenge, but my blender has been getting lots of use lately to cram more calories into less volume. This morning I made a shake for breakfast that consisted of Halo Top vanilla ice cream, chocolate whey powder, chocolate milk, Kind granola, caramel chips, and peanut butter flavored captain crunch cereal. If that sounds random as hell, it's only because it is. I have just started tossing in whatever sounds like it might taste good. Some days have been a hit (like this morning), other days not so much. Lastly, I have a pretty significant life change going down in a couple of weeks that is causing stress. I have accepted a position with another ad agency in NYC and have resigned from my current post here in Chicago effective Nov. 13th. My new employer is paying for relocation but I still have about a million items on my to do list to get ready to make this move. I am terrified to be honest, as I am a creature of habit that hates change, but it was the right move for my career.8 -

Success's: Average walking 5 miles a day. I have surpassed my goal weight.
Struggles: I'm still losing so now I'm just gonna head to 145 and see what happens. One day I did eat a whole portabella sandwich and a few fries for lunch I was so sick afterwards don't know if it was the fries which I am not used to eating or the fact I ate a whole sandwich when I usually only eat half. I could not eat the rest of the day.5 -

Success / struggles of the week : I had a good week. I think my strategy of keeping relatively low calorie / high volume for most of the day and then bigger dinner and high calorie snacks at night works for me. I love nuts and chocolate, and i indulge every night. Not too crazy, not like i kill a costco-size jar every night, but still. I haven't really given up any food, i eat a lot less of pasta, rice, bread and peanut butter though. So moderation is the key. I also made a list of bad eating habits of mine a while ago, and a list of ways to counteract or correct those So when i fall into a bad eating streak, i pull that list out and reread it. And it helps me to refocus, to identify the unwanted behavior and to make steps to correct it. Wishing everyone a great week!7 -

@nichell88 Congrats on your weight loss! Maintenance can be tough. So many of us are/were focused on losing weight and there is a ton of information out there on the subject. Maintenance, not so much. May I suggest you use the same structure and discipline regarding maintenance as you did for losing? You certainly can be more flexible, and as time goes on make adjustments. Maybe tighten things up as the weather turns colder and you might not be as active. Let yourself eat more when you are more active.
@CoachJen71 Hang in there, hun! We've got your back!2
