Good workouts align with your fitness and health goals, a mixture of both cardio and strength training probably optimal for most people.

Diet that results in a suitable calorie deficit for you and therefore fat loss which will come from all over your body.

Tips: make both of the above sustainable, hopefully enjoyable, be patient, build as much activity into your daily routine as you can.

80% of your progress is diet
abs are earned in the kitchen.
I read in a muscle fitness mag til the rest of your body gets to a certain fat % (varies for everyone) it wont start fully pulling from your mid section so eating healthy and staying on top of it is the only way to get that part of your body flat and in shape :)
Working both muscle/cardio and building muscle will help cause it helps burn more fat.
Foods like lemons green tea and spicy food coffee also helps burn more fat.
Also keep in mind it takes 3500 burned cals to lose 1lb

Don't know where to begin with this one...

Oooh where can I get me some spicy food coffee? Is that like a pumpkin spice latte? Is it an American thing?

Typical. North Americans get all the good stuff while I'm stuck here in the antipodes with boring long blacks and flat whites that don't even burn any fat at all.
