Hi All! I'm 25, almost 26 and have struggled with my weight my entire life. I am a stay at home mom and am at the heaviest I've ever been. I am actually doing the Keto Diet and am using this fitness pal to help keep me on the right track. I am up for meeting new people who are doing the Keto Diet and am in the same situation I am! Feel free to get to know me :)

Hi mrbaca2010. I am 44 and just starting keto as well. I have been doing intermittent fasting as well (only eat from 1230 to 830) and that seems to be working. Good to meet you!

Is keto the nightmare? If so, why are you doing it? To lose weight, you just have to consistently eat less (a little less than you burn).

Hi mrbaca2010. Good for you for taking the first steps to getting your weight under control.

Whatever you do, make it fun. If keto really is a nightmare for you it won't work. Find something that you know you will be able to do for many months or maybe even years if you have a lot to lose. There are lots of different ways to achieve the energy out > energy in formula so keep hunting around until you find a system that makes you feel positive and optimistic. Good luck.

    then you're doing it wrong!!!

you shouldn't really be eating anything different to what you'll eat when you're maintaining, just a bit less to create a deficit. otherwise you'll find maintenance really hard.

Yeah. It shouldn't be a nightmare. Set your calorie goal moderately, be careful that you measure your food accurately, get a little more active, and don't suffer.

I noticed I am falling short of my calorie goal. I didn't realize how inconsistently I do eat.

If that's the case you shouldn't be struggling to lose weight, but it's not really sustainable or particularly healthy.

You mean you eat less than what MFP recommends? Don't do that. But make sure you aren't actually eating more that MFP recommends instead, which is actually really easy to do - unless you log correctly, weigh everything, use real entries, never cheat, forget or estimate.

Aim to eat more consistently. The food diary is exactly what you need. It creates awareness. Even one day of overeating can wipe out the effect of several days of calorie deficit, and when you undereat, you're just setting yourself up to binge. One day of undereating here and there makes no difference, though, you won't die of malnutrition, but it won't make you lose weight faster, either.
