when i was a teen, i would have been happy to weigh what i do now! (150ish)
but i look in mirror and think "ewwwwwwwwwww" i want better!
my tricepts hang longer than my 85yr grandma's do.:frown:
i am exercising worse than a dog.

but i'm 44 now and i must face the facts. :indifferent:
my body will never be like that of a body that has not carried 100 extra lbs around for most of it's adult life.:grumble:

do you have any positive words for me?
i'm rather frusterated.

I've been reading your posts for a while, and you seem spunky and fun, upbeat and positive. Plus, you look pretty good on your pics. You are halfway to your goal, from your ticker, and this is no time to get discouraged!

    HI Oregonlady,

Tks for reaching out for hope and help.

First of all, what types of exercise are you doing and how long have you been doing them?

Youre so silly! How could you have been happy as a teen at the weight you are now, but you cant be happy NOW with your weight. You are a beautiful woman and its so great that you are so motivated to feel good about yourself; that is what counts after all. But, just remember to love the skin you're in and make sure you're losing weight for the right reasons... ones which are for YOU and that in the end the results will matter most to YOU and YOUR self-confidence. If it is about YOU, then it will be easier for YOU to keep your eyes on the prize! Good luck!!!!

Girlfriend! Compare yourself to other women in your age group. Seriously, I look around at the mall and my body is more fit than MOST of the teenagers I see! Before I packed these 20 pounds on in the past year I shopped in the Juniors Departments and the sizes there aren't so much 5s and 7s as 14s and 16s!

I'm so certain that compared to other 40-something women, your body ROCKS! And better yet, it's taking care of *you*.

That said, I'm 45 and recently started telling folks I'm 50 so they'll think, "Dang! She looks great for her age!"

a bunch of other threads I have seen all say that the skin will come back after about a year of being at a healthy weight. don't fall off the wagon, I think you look amazing and compared to the "before" pics you posted, at least 20 years younger.

Keep strong!! Stay with us! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

We are our own worst critics. I am never happy with how I look no matter what I weigh. I have resorted to just being fit and healthy and not worrying so much about the appearance part of it. I have to say though after looking at your pictures...you should be VERY PROUD of where you are now and that you have been consistently exercising and taking care of yourself for six years. You look great. You have come a long way! Try to be proud of what you have accomplished and just strive to be the healthiest and most active person you can be!

Does your gym offer a BodyPump class? I started doing a class twice a week and I can tell a huge difference in my strength and I have toned up in places that I was having a hard time toning on my own. If it is offered I suggest you try it out. It is an hour of lifting and it works all muscle groups in that hour. I do a little additional strength stuff, but not a lot.

thank you for the compliments bamboo. i should point out, the skinny pic of me in a black bathing suit is a goal. not what i really look like.:grumble:
i'll look into the body pump class, thank you.:flowerforyou:

when i look into the mirror, i see a pretty face. ~that droops now a days.
when i was younger people would say to me, "you are so pretty, you could model if you lost some weight" ~i have been chubby since birth.
today, i have less fat on me than ever before. but i have droopy skin and extra ripples.
that is what i see in the mirror.:grumble:

Focus more on how you feel instead of how you look. I feel like I am the pot calling the kettle black b/c I am my own worst critic. I let my weight control my moods...my life. It has for years..since puberty when someone made some stupid comment like they did to you. I wish people knew how deep words cut. I am 37 years old and still remember the moment someone made a comment about my shape and fitness ability. I was 11 and was so proud of myself b/c I did a one mile run. My daddy helped me train (one mile was a big deal for an 11 year old) and I finished it and ran the whole time. I didn't finish first but I finished and I was so proud of myself and some dumb woman (the mother of a friend who had a runner's physique) said to another mother "I can't believe she (me) finished, she is not built at all like a runner, a little too chubby. I don't even know why she did this". I left that race completely deflated. Her words hurt me so deeply. It sounds to me as if words have hurt you in the past and you are having a hard time overcoming them. You be proud of you. If you have less fat on yourself than you ever have had before then have a party, b/c that is something to celebrate! I have to remind myself daily that although I am not the smallest I have ever been, I am healthy. And when I was my smallest...even that wasn't good enough or small enough. Sometime I feel like a crazy person..it controls me. I understand completely your frustration/depression..whatever you want to call it b/c I suffer from it as well. Well my intention was not to ramble as I did. I just wanted to tell you that you are beautiful regardless if you ever modelled or not. You are beautiful whether you are chubby or not. I think those words have stayed with you too long. I know b/c my ugly words have stayed with me too long. You just keep on fighting and look into bodypump or some other form of strength training you can add to workout. I think you will be happy with the results!

Hello, I have seen your posts and you are sweet, kind, funny, encouraging, uplifting.......

When I saw your AV I thought "She is pretty"

I looked in your profile and I see the pic with your arm stuff hanging. I hate mine too!

    BUT........I LOVE LOVE LOVE my:

    New muscles!!
    Smaller clothes!!
    Jaw! (which has reappeared!)
    Eyes!
    Hair!
    Hip bones!
    Strength!
    Endurance!
    Energy!
Good heart! (both towards other ppl and the health of it!)
    Sense of humor!
    Skin!

LIFE! The fact that I am alive.

NO, I am not 20 any more. It passed me years ago along with the insecurities it held. But I am a vital, healthy 47 year old woman with a loving husband, wonderful kids and 2 dogs that love me to death.

When I think of the alternative....well I am happy with who I am...right here, right now!!

Embrace the you others see. You are a beautiful woman who has worked very hard to achieve this goal....please take a moment to enjoy it!

I know how you feel. It's like we do all this hard work but still have to deal with some issues from the abuse we put our bodies through.

It bothers me sometimes but MOST of the time, I just try and focus on the things I DO like. The fact of the matter is, no matter what we look like..we as women will always find something we don't like about ourselves. Once I started thinking about that, I started to pay closer attention to the areas I like. I started to be proud of what has come back nicely and just have an overall respect for my body for not giving up on me.

When people ask me what part of my body I like the most, I say "the whole thing....because it put up with the horrible food I fed it and the weight I made it carry round and still rewarded me when I put in the effort"

Just try and pay attention to the positive things and what you like and keep in mind that even those women who appear to have perfect bodies are probably picking themselves apart about something too!
