Noah, can you explain why I get warnings and threatened with prison for correcting spelling and grammar and other people get 'awesomed'? Why does that happen?!

I THOUGHT WE WERE ALL EQUAL HERE.

my guess would be they dont like grammar NAZIS buttercup

But so many ppl do it and they just wanna punish only me for it

That is super unfair, you are nice about it and really if someone corrects me I think of it as a favour, they could be saving you from embarrassment.

I had a friend at work recently tell me that I kept spelling does 'dose', I'd continually write dosen't and I didn't notice until she pointed it out. With auto correct on all our devices little things like that can slip by...who knows how long I was writing it wrong on paper!

How does she even know if others got a warning ?
I am guessing not everyone is going to publicly say they got a warning ...

she didnt... she made an assumption based on what she is seeing which she is free to do. btw ftfy :D
xena i dont wanna go in circles with this really

Also I see they're never flagged and mine are (well, were, because I've been super good for weeks now) always immediately flagged. A bunch of users get praised after correcting someone whereas I was always given a "talking to" for being a big meany, and then I never see them mention getting a warning and I don't see them in jail.

I don't mind following rules, it's just annoying when they don't apply to everyone.

I am ignorant as to what gets people into trouble...flagging? reporting? And who's discretion that is left up to? Seems kinda biased

It is very biased sometimes. I have gotten reported and warned for things that others do all the time. Heck, others have said/done way worse, daily I will add, than some of the petty things I have gotten warned for. I look at it as someone is jealous/doesn't like me/whatever and that is pretty sad. Relying on a community to decide who gets in trouble for what isn't all that fair because some people get too emotionally involved and use the reporting system for their own vendettas.

    Dear Posters,

Public airing of grievances with moderators is against the MFP guidelines.

To clarify a few of the points brought up here:

Abuse or Spam flagging was created as a way for users to remove extremely inappropriate content (this is intended for bot style spam, or something like pornographic images or hate speech.) After 5 flags the content is removed from the forums and sent to report que moderators address daily. Less than 5 flags will not do anything to a post unless someone also actually reports it to moderators (by pressing flag, report, and filling out the reason when prompted). If you feel a post you made has been unfairly flagged simply report your flagged post to moderators, in the "other reason" box put "should not have been flagged" and we can remove flags. We also address serial misuse of the flagging features to try to prevent the use of the flags as a way to attack other members or control the forums.

When a user reports a post it is sent to moderators for review. All reported posts are also addressed daily.

Moderators rely heavily on user reports to fairly moderate the forums. We try our best to treat all users the same, but we do not have the manpower to review every single post made on these forums. If you see a post that violates guidelines we very much appreciate if you report it to us so we can act accordingly.

If you ever have questions about how the forums work there are lots of great resources in the "news and announcements board", these two are related to some of the questions presented here.

Lastly, if you find something unclear or have a particular issue you are always welcome to pm a moderator or staff member and we will try to help you out:
