I wrote this a few months ago and it's helped quite a few people. Good luck!

  • Hi there,

I went about 4 weeks without losing anything. I upped my calories from 1200 to 1700 (from losing 2 lbs a week to 1) and that jump started me again.

It seems that my calories were too low and I was into starvation mode. Everyones different, but this is what worked for me.

Can't see your diary, but I know that when the same thing happened to me, I started a challenge with a few friends to drink a gallon of water (16 cups) per day, and within a few days I was down a couple of pounds.

I have just started to lose a little bit slowly but this article helped me understand why I couldn't get out of it.

You and me both, 17 stone 5 or thereabouts for about two weeks now. Very frustrating considering the amount of cycling I do, but I realise it's probably just my body saying "woah, wait, I'm starving here!"

I've changed my diet slightly and reduced the total carbs I'm eating. Let's see how that works.

Don't give up! It won't last forever. Plateaus are frustrating. I went 3 weeks only losing 1 1/2 lbs. I just stuck with my calories and exercise and this week, the plateau ended and I lost 4 lbs.

I was stuck for over a month...for me what worked was lowering my calories from 1500 to 1200 and limiting my diet soda/upping my water. The most important thing is to not give up!!! Keep trying different things but don't quit. Eventually you will find what moves you again.

Just read this and really loved it. My plateau was/is not the typical low calories one so for once this started to hit the issues for me. Thanks Natalie

I think that this issue is important for those who reach their goal weight. If they work to maintain it for 2 months their body will stop fighting them and help them maintain their new weight. So many people don't take time to do this once they lose and just gain it back.

    Ok, stuck here too.

I'm wanting to know just how long do you raise calories or yoyo to see a difference.

I've been at it for 1 1/2 wks with no change yet. 6 weeks of no loss and really just bouncing 3 pounds around. I've worked nearly all summer at losing 1 pants size and school is about to start and I can't wear what is in my closet! So very frustrated!!!

And would you know it, yesterday I was 17 stone 6 (hovering between 6 and 7 on the scales), today I'm 17 stone 4. So these things do work themselves out, eventually.
