Hey guys! Starting a new thread for weight loss inspiration I’m curious, what is it that pushes you to lose weight? This month, mine is fitting into a dress for a party coming up (I’ve recently put on a few pounds but I’m confident that I can get back on track!)

My motivation is I am nearing 40 years old. Since high school I have been a size 18 and up. Now at 38 yo I am a size 24 and feel horrible. Doing anything wears me out and I have come to the conclusion I have to do so.ething for me for once. It has always been my kids and husband but it's my turn to make myself better!14

I just want to be healthy and don't want extra weight to contribute to health problems.7

Health, first and foremost. I didn't have any health problems even when I was overweight, but I knew it was increasing my odds of developing disease. Especially since I was menopausal. I really did want to the beat the odds of become a frail old lady. Since I can't change it I'm cool with the old part, but I hope I never become okay with "frail".4

My main motivation is superficial. I want to look and feel hot for my husband. I’m officially lower than the weight we got married at, so small victory there. Now just to get to my goal!7

My motivation is health. The doctors say my BP is too high especially for a young person. They said losing weight can help. Lost motivation after losing only a few lbs last winter so I am hoping to stick with it this time.6

Luckily, no health problems for me so primary reason is completely superficial and for vanity's sake! I don't mind my current curvy body but I miss my super-toned body from a few years ago. And I honestly miss heavy lifting and endurance running.4

I bought a little black dress that was originally $200 for $12, but it was a tad too tight. FOUR YEARS LATER, I can finally fit in it, and it looks really good! Now I just need an occasion to wear it10

My motivation is my health. I suffer from blood pressure and i'm getting close to 49 yrs. I had my second spine surgery last year and I would like to get to my pre-wedding weight and be healthier. I had lost 23 lbs between July up this month, 77 lbs more to go.6

I want to feel comfortable in my own skin! I want to feel like I'm not being judged or looked down on because of my body. Whether it happens or not (I'm pretty sure nobody else really cares about my weight) I feel like it does. I want to live a healthier lifestyle and not have to suffer to consequences of obesity later on in life.9

I'm 57 and want to be healthy so I can be active the rest of my life. And fit into skinny jeans.6

My knees hurt. I want to make sure they hurt from a problem and not be another one of the 1000s of overweight women who have knee pain just from being fat. I really don't want to be that woman complaining about knee pain to my doctor when I'm overweight only to be told to lose weight.

Had a wake up call in August when I passed out while walking and broke my face and two teeth. one tooth went thru my bottom lip and it cost $2000 to fix my teeth.3

I fell off my dirt bike some 12 months ago after yahooing in the bush, got my left knee and ankle badly damaged , spent most of the year with limited mobility and piled up many kilos . Now I'm trying to lose weight and to get my leg and back muscles back in order in time for summer.4

I'm pretty sure I'm meant to say things like "health!" And "for myself".... no no. Mine is so that every guy I've been rejected by thinks "oh. I should not have left you"....18

I turn 60 in March and my son is planning his wedding Next October.4

mine was to help with an ongoing back problem. although to be fair most of my excess weight was gained following an injury in early 2016 (to my back), and extended hospital stay, resulting inactivity, and lots and lots of medication. now I'm nearly back to "normal weight" I feel much better, but I'm going to keep going and take a bit more off to see how it looks and feels.1

I have always had issues with weight. When I was a kid I was chubby. In high school, between Junior and Senior year, I lost a lot of weight. I would play on multiple hockey teams with up to 3 games in one night 5-6 nights a week- then I would walk a lot after the third game most nights. I liked this 8 mile route I'd do and I'd switch it up with a 5 mile one on other nights. I went down to 165 pounds from 215. I kept it off for 4 years, but then In College I had a knee injury occur at work. I was on crutches for 6 months. I wasn't as educated about calories so I ate the same as I always did, but didn't have the exercise to burn it off. I ballooned up to 235 pounds. I was a size 42 waist. I had that weight on me for 6 years.
The realization for me came with these two occurrences:
1. First was a photo I had taken with my nephew in 2010. I was shocked to see I was so heavy. Maybe it was the picture? I then saw a picture of me from a friend's wedding and I look like a blimp with a suit on.
2. When I went to a neurologist in Spring 2011for an issue with my neck stemming from hockey I got the report he had written for the insurance company and it described me as a "well groomed, but overweight male...." This clicked in me. People do see me as overweight. I am IN FACT overweight. It is not in my head. Shortly after I got a new job and they couldn't find any pants size 42. It was embarrassing.3 -
Going down one size in clothing. Need to get to 36, so I can wear all the clothes in my closet that are a size smaller2
