...my left foot is half a size smaller than my right foot, and I can feel slipping in the heel which is definitely going to form a nice big blister. Any ideas on how I can remedy this?

Check out lacing technique about heel sliding up and down.

For me I use to have this issue but now unless i am doing a lot of start and stopping even with loosely tied shoes I don't have this issue anymore. I went to a runners shoe store and they actually put me in a 1/2 size larger shoe. it seemed odd but haven't had an issue and been through 4 pairs now.

    Good luck.

I don't have two different size feet, but sometimes it can be really difficult to find shoes in my size so I often have to buy a size up. I buy shoe inserts, they make the inside of the shoe a bit tighter so the larger size doesn't bother me as much. I like the gel ones that just support the heel as opposed to the ones that are the size of the whole foot, like these:

I'm sure it will work for only one shoe as well :)
