Office thanksgiving party

Ugh it’s so hard to keep track when you have a office party when everyone brings food. I tried my best today and logged food over what I think the calories are... hopefully. Fingers crossed I didn’t ruin today. Trying hard to stay in my calories.

I'm sure you didn't ruin the day. Enjoy yourself while making the best choices you can. If they aren't great, then put it behind you and do better tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving.1

One meal won't make you fat, just like one salad won't make you thin... guesstimate as best you can, enjoy it.11 -

Most people splurge a little during the holidays. It isn't going to set you off track permanently. Just be sure to hop right on the band wagon again tomorrow!5 -
Why don’t you just call in sick or something4

Even if today were ruined, there is always tomorrow.1

Our party was today. Besides all sorts of yummy entrees and sides, there was a "dessert room". Yeah, we needed an entire separate room to contain all the desserts. I had a little bit of a lot of things and will have a light dinner tonight.4

Don't worry too much about it. There's only so much you can do. One day isn't going to ruin all your progress!
In some ways enjoying special days like this is helpful because you don't have to get yourself into a black-or-white mindset in which if you go over one day you might as well give up entirely.0 -
As others have said, one day won't ruin your progress. You could always try to fit in some extra exercise, or eat a little lighter (NOT starving yourself- there's a big difference) the next day. I would definitely still go, seeing as it is completely possible to enjoy life and food, and still lose weight! Being healthy, whatever that means to you, is something you want for life, right? That means fitting those holidays and special occasions into the mix.
Personally, when it comes to work functions or big dinners with friends or family, I make sure I only fill my plate up once. I take more of the things like veggies and salad, and smaller portions of things like mashed potatoes, potatoes au gratin, green bean casserole, etc. That way I can still taste everything, and tell the cook how amazing it all was, and I'm not left hungry, but I haven't overeaten by 5,000 cals either! I might log it, I might not, if it's just one day.
At work functions specifically, I won't take anything I really don't want. I used to see it as something "special" and I'd get a bit of everything. If I know what food is going to be there ahead of time (say, BBQ) I'll bring a smaller salad for lunch and just grab a single rib and maybe 1/4 cup of mac & cheese OR beans, whichever I want more (who am I kidding- it's always the mac & cheese!) That way I can think of it as a typical lunch day, but with an added treat...as opposed to "ooo, it's a special lunch so I can have all the things!" It's taken a lot of time but I've been getting better at figuring out what I can do to change HOW I think about things, which has been a huge help!2
