Will you log foods on Thanksgiving or no?

Do you plan on logging your meals this Thanksgiving? I’d love to see your answers!
As far as my thoughts... either way, I personally just wanna be able to enjoy my favorite dishes in moderation. I’d love to get through the holiday season without picking up several pounds... it would be a first!

Not even going to pretend I intend to log it, because I won't. It's one day (really one meal plus dessert, since I don't intend to have a sunup to sundown free-for-all).6

I intend to cook it and log it. I did last year. The main course of our family's meal was not particularly high in calories. Rather, the desserts were. Last year I bought pies and fruitcakes. This year I haven't.4

I haven't logged in years, but when I did log and was losing weight, I never logged these holidays or special occasions...they're pretty immaterial to the bigger picture.
If you typically put on weight over the holiday season, it isn't because of Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner...it's because you're using the whole 2 months as a reason to eat. You don't gain weight (fat) from a couple of celebratory feast days.25 -
No. I don't log consistently anyway (at maintenance), but I didn't log Thanksgiving when I was. I didn't go totally nuts and a good part of my family's Thanksgiving (which I cook a lot of) is reasonably sensible calorie-wise (I posted a likely menu in another thread), but logging dishes I don't make or ones I eat family style from a larger bowl and so on is a hassle and not worth the trouble and besides I don't care how many calories I eat on that one day.4

I like to pre-log, so it's like I have myself a little menu for the day. Already have turkey day plugged in w/ what I plan on eating, even taking into account treats like strawberry shortcake. If anything changes, I may edit accordingly, but we'll see. Also, by pre-logging, I can look at my day and go "nah, I really don't need breakfast, I'll be eating a huge meal by 2 anyways!!"10

I log every meal, every day. Part of it is that I do better with consistency, part of it is that I like to have data to look back on, and part of it is just being curious. I've got over 1,000 days of consecutive logging and I see no reason to break it just for Thanksgiving.15

Yes. I may overeat but my main promise to myself that has had me losing weight is i log before i eat no matter what.6
-
i'll maybe attempt some semblance of logging but i won't be relying on its accuracy. i'll likely do a long run in the morning and then drink a lot of wine and fill up on appetizers as per usual.6
-
Yes. but I won't care when it goes over.8

Nope. It’s a calorie counting holiday for me. I’m going to make an entry called Thanksgiving and give it 3500 calories. That will more than cover my day, and probably leave my week close to maintenance calorie levels so all is good. Christmas Eve and Day are similar for me. So is my anniversary and husband’s birthday. My birthday and New Year’s Eve I log, but allow for extra alcohol calories in addition to regular maintenance allowance.
Those are only exceptions I have. I may stumble but unless it is one of the special days above it is weight loss goal and logging here5 -
Nope!!!
It is a family potluck and I can't imagine the PITA it would be to WAG all the cals. Like @jessiferrrb said ^^ I plan to do work my tail off at the gym in the AM day of and day after.3 -
I don't plan on logging. I'll eat reasonable portions of "special occasion" food throughout the day, enjoy good wine and mulled cider and call it a holiday. This is how I approach all holidays and vacations now and I've learned one day won't have any impact at all on long-term weight maintenance. As long as it's one day, of course.3
-
I do, but it's more to make sure I can run the next day.
It's just one day and has no impact over the long run. This is the key point most people ignore - it's not the 10 or so Holiday overeating that results in being overweight...it's the daily 250 kcal surplus.4 -
I'll eyeball portions and log it more as a curiosity. Won't really care how many cals I actually eat.5
-
Yes.
I always log what I eat. My body keeps an accurate record, so I like to as well.8 -
No because that would require me to build recipes and actually know how many servings is in each thing I make....too much work!7
-
I plan to log what I eat and any exercise earlier in the day, then quick add a completely random 3500 calories for dinner4

I log all my meals, Thanksgiving will be no different. BUT... I do now make crustless pumpkin pies and use fat free evaporated milk, so that the most high calorie part of the meal is still calorie friends. ;-)4

Agree with this^
All calories count so all calories should be counted. If you're counting calories at all you're essentially conducting a science experiment on yourself and data collection requires precision and completeness.14 -

I'm so jealous, I wish I could get a run in but the weather tells me otherwise and I have to get the house ready for guests.1 -

I lost my mind and signed up for a turkey trot First ever organized 5K. It's supposed to rain. I expect I will be useless starting directly after dinner.6 -
Likely not. It's one day and I actually have never been a thanksgiving food lover, so it won't be hard for my to practice some self control. Maybe I will get up early and get a work out in, though.1
-
Ill log but it will all be general entries from the data base, and I don't plan on going crazy.
Ill enjoy the day and eat what I want and will probably be over6 -

That's the way I'm viewing the next year, as a science experiment with myself as the subject, complete control over the variables, and daily data recording. It's changed my mindset from "OMG, I gained a pound today, might as well fall into a vat of ice cream and eat my way out." to "Hmm, interesting data point. Tomorrow will likely be different."
In that context, Thanksgiving will be an outlier in the dataset but still needs to be recorded. It can't be worst than the way I ate everyday before CICO.

Yep, just as much as usual. Losing weight during the holiday season, rather than gaining again, is the initial motivator for me in starting this quest. Thursday will be a strong indicator of how successful I will be through New Years and the ski season.6

I'll be doing a giblet gravy detox cleanse on Thanksgiving day, so no logging needed.
To actually contribute something, I'm one of your friendly northern neighbours and we had Thankgiving last month and I don't ever log it (not when I was losing, not in maintenance like I am now.) However, I make sure that it is one meal, and not four days of snacking and stealing leftovers and bathing in wine and/or gravy. It's only when I kind of throw up my hands and stop exercising self-discipline for days/weeks on end that I suddenly can't get my pants buttoned, and I've learned my lesson.
For me what works is to enjoy the day but get back to normal afterwards and not turn the entirety of the holiday season into a gluttonous free-for-all.
I usually pick 1 event per week at this time of year when I can indulge and not track, but if I have more events than one in a week, I have to make it fit into my day and not go over. I'm a petite person and it doesn't take much to upset the balance for me, so I do try to be cognizant of what is happening (and weigh myself weekly) so I don't end up having to cut hard in January since it's such a bummer.4
