Do people not know how easy it is to make sauce? I've never tasted the can shaped variety, so I don't really know if sauce is better, I just always assumed it was.

It's been my nephew's "job" to make & bring cranberry sauce since he was about 5 years old. Kids love the popping sound the berries make.

Ah, the staple of the Missouri Thanksgiving dinner, lol. It's pretty much cranberry flavored Jell-O, lol.

How can it be wrong when it looks soooo right?

Only homemade, with orange and walnuts and cinnamon and a bit of brandy.

We usually have canned cranberry sauce. My daughter loves it. She doesn't love a lot of things. Little things like that canned cranberry sauce can mean a lot on holidays to some people. It tastes like cranberry jelly- not impressive but not horrible.

Homemade cranberry sauce, little fresh OJ, cinnamon stick, sugar, pinch of nutmeg. I have to make two batches because one of them is straight up mine.

Is mine the only family that adds booze to their cranberries sauce?

I don't even hate the canned stuff, it's just that the real deal is SO much better. Plus booze.

I made cranberry sauce one year and my family hated it! I have a couple of good recipes to try this year - I will make them love it!! We normally serve lingonberry a'la Ikea though.

Sounds like I need to learn how to make it. For the booze.

The right sugar substitutes can be incorporated for those who need to watch the glycemic index or simply want to avoid the repercussions of refined sugar.

Homemade is so much better than the stuff in the can. But I also love the stuff in the can...the "whole berry" variety...not the one that's nothing but gel. And cranberry-orange relish is the easiest recipe. Bag of cranberries, whole orange (peel and all), cup of sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup). Food processor. Boom. (Although I like to add a little ginger.)

    That canned thing. Good lord.

Home made for me. Tiny knob of butter, add cranberries and stir then simmer down with little sugar and a very, very generous slosh of port.
