I tried to control my food intake during the weekdays and have 1 day of mindless eating. I love dessert so much and not having them make me grumppy.

Then stop that. Eat so that you don't feel deprived.4

Why not have dessert that fits your calories instead?5 -
youd do less "damage" by adding a small dessert in daily, Even if not within calories. Seriously think about it.
edit to note- not recomending going above calories everyday i just find mindless eating days are stupid. Fit it in10 -
You said it your self: ” one day of mindLESS eating” how bout 7days of thoughtful eating ?5

I agree with these posters. I haven’t binged in 7 days by fitting in what I like into my calories. I even lost 5lbs! You can do it too. I tried the one “free” day. It never worked. I gained weight and it turned into multiple days. I really appreciate this community and the MFP app. Haven’t been 7 days really free in a long time!8 -
The whole "cheat" day concept and eat heavy and lite never worked for me. A friend who I went out to dinner with said, "just eat lite during the week and go out during the weekends". I know that it can work for a lot of folks but for me, one day turns into 2 turns into weight gain. I am much better off having PB2 on toast and Yasso frozen yogurt treats then mindlessly eating one day a week. I think you can add a LOT of calories that way. As such I am also not a fan of fasting because I think it messes with our blood and energy. I feel like it is better to eat small meals and snacks throughout the day than fast and one big meal. Just me tho. You gotta do what works for you. And if a CHEAT day works than HURRAH... I am pretty sure anyone who is a binger will understand that it won't work for them. If you restrict, you end up binging. 100% of the time. I have 45+ years of experience in that regard.7

I'm not sure which method works for me. I have had a really hard time with binge eating lately and while I haven't gained too much weight back yet, I'm having a lot of stomach aches and issues with feeling tired. Right now I'm just trying to give myself an option to have more calories on some days but still have a limit so it doesn't get completely out of control.2

I've always had problems with binge eating. I'm finishing the book "Brain Over Binge" at the moment and everything the author says makes a lot of sense to me. Today is my second day without bingeing, so I have nothing to brag about yet. I will report back on my results in a month.5

Why not fit a serving of dessert in everyday so you don't end up craving, then binging? What works for me is having occasional high calorie days (once every 1-2 weeks) that are still limited so I don't go too overboard. For example, I had 2000 calories for my bday a few days ago, which is my high calorie limit, but enough to keep me satisfied. I usually eat a bit less or just fit in more exercise the day or two after and it all works out. No guilt, no weight gain. Whereas before, the moment I went a few calories above with dessert, my brain just resorted to the "all or nothing" mentality and I'd just end up binging on 3000+ calories afterwards. Being more flexible with my diet helped reduce my binge episodes by quite a bit.5

I do a "never two days in a row" rule, so that if I have a treat one day, I won't have one the next. It helps me stay moderated, but also keeps me happy because I get my treats.12

My daily dessert is a serving of chocolate chips with pecans or almonds. This treat for some reason doesn't cause me to have sugar cravings but if I eat a cookie or brownie I want to keep eating.2

I’ve been diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder, which I thought was completely made up and an excuse. But I had such a hard time mindfully eating and fitting foods into my nutrition goals. I often felt that I had no control and eating was a compulsive behavior. Over the course of the last 4 months, I’ve spent a lot of time simply accepting myself and my limitations. From there, I’ve begun to evaluate why I’m binging when I am and have been logging those feelings. I’ve started a system where, if I want to binge, I think about why that is and try to remedy that feeling (for me, it’s often emotional). Feeling bored? Color. Feeling lonely? Tell a friend I’m feeling lonely and could use support. It’s hokey, but I’ve found addressing the root reason -why- I binge has been the most helpful in stopping this behavior.6
