That's more than 3 pounds a week. It will be difficult to do safely unless you're starting at a pretty high weight.3
-
Unless you weigh close to 400 pounds, it (meaning 13 pounds of fat) can't be done.5

Being vegetarian or not is not important to weight loss.
Current weight? Height? Age? Activity level?
Generally 2 lbs a week or 8 lbs a month is pretty aggressive weight loss goal and unrealistic unless you are more than 50 lbs overweight. Many find 1 lb a week to be a sustainable and healthy rate of loss. If you are not overweight or not very overweight then .5 lb a week might be more reasonable.
You may or may not see a larger initial loss of water weight.
Input your info into MFP. Choose a reasonable rate of loss. Stick to the calorie goal MFP gives you. Log everything you consume as accurately as you can. Be patient.6 -

Why?1

Assuming you're not obese... You could cut off an arm. Or fast for a whole month and enjoy the slew of terrible side effects that would come with it.
OR you could stick to a reasonable calorie deficit and lose the weight slower and not kill yourself in the process.6 -
Sorry, but your goal is a little too aggressive but 8-10 lbs. could work for the first month including the initial water loss you will have. I started with 2 lbs per week and now I'm down to 1 lb per week, which has worked well for me. It is important to stay within the calorie range given to you by MFP which is calculated based on your age, weight, activity level, and pounds per week you request to lose. The most important thing you will do is to weigh and log all of your foods for accurate accounting. Add exercise and eat those calories back as you please. Your goals should include eating well, eating enough, eating healthy, and not reducing so fast that you put it all back on again the next month.1

Beat me to it.
Barring doing something dangerous or unhealthy it's almost impossible unless you're starting over 300 lbs.
And yes Amputation qualifies as unhealthy and dangerous.
There are all sorts of ways to lose 13 scale pounds in that timeframe. That doesn't mean that the scale weight in any way correlates to anything meaningful.1 -
Honestly, if you're just starting out this should be fine, assuming you are significantly overweight.
I easily lost 5+ pounds my first week of eating healthier and lighter, and did lose about 13 pounds in the first month. I was not 300 pounds to start with. I just went from a crap-filled diet with no exercise, to a healthy one with exercise.4 -

To be fair, just because something has happened for one person doesn't mean everyone should expect it to happen. If you were not very obese, were not eating at a deficit of 1500+ cals per day, and lost 13 lbs in the first month, a lot of it was water weight and not everyone has that much water weight to lose. Your body can only utilize so much fat at one time, so losing weight very quickly almost always includes a measurable amount of water weight and muscle mass lost as well.5 -
OP, if you provide your stats (height, current weight, goal weight) we can give you an idea of a realistic and safe weight loss goal.0

I lost 14 pounds my first month.
14 pounds of fat though? No.2 -
I lost 13 lbs in about 3 months and it was hard work. I say set more realistic goals.2

14 pounds of fat though? No.
I lost 15 lbs a month for my first 3, and it was mostly fat by my guess. But I was 330+ lbs at the time.
Note, I don't recommend this. I haven't had any ill effects (that I know of) but reading about fast weight loss and gallstones has me wishing I took more time at first.0 -
I wonder how hard it is to get overweight being a vegetarian?0

Not hard at all. There are tons of calorie-dense foods that aren't meat.4 -

pretty darn easy.1 -
I am vegetarian.
I want to lose 60 lbs in a month and win the lottery. But, not realistic. And it doesn't matter if you are vegetarian, vegan or whatever.
Now, if you weigh over 400 lbs, you might be able to, but you need to provide some numbers to us like height, current weight, etc, we might be able to help you figure out a healthy amount to lose.3 -

I worked in college food service management years ago. Whenever the group representing the vegetarians would meet with us, they appeared to be one of two types of people.
1. Scrawny and malnourished looking, from protein deficiency, or
2. Obese from too much cookies, cake, candy and a high sugar/carbohydrate diet.
Vegetarian or not, it's easy to get overweight by taking in too many calories.
