Setting up mfp

On mfp when you set your goals and put in your activity level, is this to do with your job and what you so in a day but not including going to the gym ??

Yes, log purposeful exercise. If you are using the MFP Exercise Diary to log, recommend starting to eat back a percentage of the earned Calories such as 50-75% then adjust the percentage based on results after 4 to 6 weeks.

The Calories earned from exercise include your BMR for that time period, so the longer time you perform an exercise, the greater the chance the Calories will be inflated because of the BMR. The other option is to calculate your BMR per minute, then subtract that from the MFP estimate and edit the Calories earned and eat back 100% of those.

When i walk to and from college my apple watch counts steps ect and also tells me calories i burned that day, should i log these calories in exercise on mfp or just leave them as calories part of my tdee ?? As walking to and from isnt like purposful exercise i just have to do it or would this not be part of what i daily burn ??

The Apple Watch integration with MFP is unlike any other activity tracker. I use a Fitibt, so I can not answer that question. Some AW users indicate that when you log individual exercises with AW that syncs with MFP, the Calories in MFP associated with just Steps (non-individual exercises) get negated. Since I do not have one to experiment with, I would defer to someone who has experience with MFP and AW syncing.

He's saying he doesn't know. Nor do I. Maybe this is a question for the Apple tech help? (On an Apple site.)

No, they integrate so you kind of get the "extra" calories from your FitBit if you do a lot more than expected.

Because you burn calories all day everyday just by existing, you can't add ALL your FitBit calories since these include those "existing calories". There's some kind of magic widget that tells you how many extra calories you get from your FitBit-logged steps etc, but it's definitely not all of them!

For example, for the last few days...
Thursday - FitBit calories 2,249 - MFP adjustment +654 calories
Friday - FitBit calories 2,244 - MFP adjustment +643 calories
Saturday - FitBit calories 2,426 - MFP adjustment +832 calories

(NB I see the adjustment number, but I choose not to eat it... I have Premium and set my targets myself so maybe I'm not the best example overall! MFP would have me eat 1,600 apparently but I'm on about 1,800.)

I dont think my apple watch is as accurate as it only says i burn about 200-300 calories so thats why i assume thats just from walking ?

Probably yes, so you could add all (or some) of those.
You kind of have to experiment with how many calories to add back, based on what any fitness tracker or exercise machine or whatever is telling you.
