I mean don't get me wrong, white gravy has its place, but that place is no where near poutine.

It's funny because just this summer I had a nice conversation with a gentlemen from Quebec who gave a hilarious account of how terrible other provinces poutine is.

Edit to add: I had a hard time arguing with him because the poutine I had in the Quebec airport was better than pretty much any poutine I've had anywhere else, and I've had a lot of good poutine.

    Timbits

And does American Tim Hortons sell timbits or 'donut holes'?

They are still TimBits here in the US

Do you want to start a war with Canada, because that's how you start a war with Canada :D

We've said nothing but nice things about poutine!

Mmm poutine and timbits for dessert :D

Can someone please tell me what the *kitten* are poutine?

Poutine is french fries with gravy and melted cheese or cheese curds.

Why not say French fries with gravy?

Because then that's french fries and gravy. You need the cheese.

    Silly American.

Silly Americans? We have Poutine here! They opened a nice Poutine restaurant downtown a couple years ago that is very good.

Okay what about sausage gravy? Would you consider using that in poutine?

Ok but where are the cheese curds? You can't call it poutine without cheese curds.

And I dunno about that sausage gravy, why fix what isn't broken? Just sprinkle some bacon bits and onions on top. Or some dressing, now that's a poutine I can get behind. But changing a core ingredient... That's just dancing with disaster.

Take that up with Desi Fiesta, they're the heathens leaving off the cheese curds and calling white gravy Bechamel Sauce.

You don't need bacon bits though if you gravy has sausage already built in.

Tastes of Canada --- Timbits ( Tim Hortons ) and Poutine ( any chip wagon on a cold winter day ). Not that healthy but sometime you just have to indulge ...

Also, any of the following chocolate treats: Coffee Crisp, Aero, Smarties, Mr. Big, Jersey Milk

Please be careful what you say about Tim Hortons and their coffee and Tim Bits around Canadians. I complained that Timmies coffee was rank on the their facebook page once, because it is rank. I got death threats.

Canadians don't play around when it comes to Timmies coffee.

Don't forget the Ketchup chips, All dressed chips and the Nanaimo bars. I also highly recommend smoked meat sandwiches from Montreal. And coming from a vegetarian, that's quite the recommendation.

I've never heard of Timbits. But which would you say and why?

    Donut holes or Timbits?

I've never heard of Timbits before this thread. Seems it is specific to one Canadian chain store.
I would say doughnut holes because that is what they are and always have been. If I were ordering some at a store that called them powdered dough comets I would call them powdere dough comets while I was there.
I prefer doughnut vs donut for spelling.

I don't call all hamburgers Whoppers or all soda's Coke.

I live in the US and we have Tim Hortons all over the place! My kids ask for Tim Bits all the time.

Wait... some people call all hamburgers "Whoppers?"
