Hey...
I just joined today, though I am a lifer for dieting and exercising. I feel like I am ALWAYS on a diet. I'm sick of it, to be honest. I want one of them to work already. Or maybe I want ME to work once already. I always lose motivation or give up on myself.
I am trying to lose weight for my wedding in February. So when I called a bridal shop about dresses, they told me I should be ordering 6 months in advance... and it is almost 6 months to the wedding NOW. I don't want to be this big for my wedding. So I felt defeated. 6 months of going to the gym- I have gained 10 pounds. I have 6 more months, and this bridal shop made me want to give up.
I suppose I will buy my dress soon... and just take it in a whole bunch if I lose the weight. (and hope it doesn't compromise the shape of my gown)
Ugh! Why does everything seem like an uphill battle with weight loss?
I feel like everything is working against me and my goals.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding !! My advice is to go ahead and get your dress picked out now and go every 6 weeks and get it fitted since you will be losing weight to see if the dress can be taken in each time so that you dont wait til the last minute to get the dress taken in a whole lot all at once and be more stressful. I was reading your profile and noticed that you have hypothyroidism, I to have this which of course may make our journey a little harder...but not impossible, You can friend request me if you want, Good Luck on your weight loss hope you really enjoy this site too!0

First of all, welcome! And congrats on the upcoming wedding.
Now my unsolicited advice. I wish there was a magic pill, but there's not. It all boils down to ONE thing. The choices you make. One choice at a time, one day at a time. Each choice will have a consequence and you get to choose what that will be. If you are truly committed to making this work, decide you are going to do it, do it for the right reasons and don't look back.
You're going to have stumbling blocks and "oopsies" along the way - it's human nature - no one's perfect. But you have to CHOOSE to keep going. When you make a choice you regret, make a better choice next time. Don't look back, only forward.
With that being said, here is a very good place to start if you truly wish to make this a lifestyle change. You will have to choose to kiss your old habits good bye. It will take all of your will power and determination to start, but as you make progress, in some ways it will get easier as your body craves healthier foods and you listen to what it is telling you.
Anyway, check out this link as it changed my eating habits for the better! Set small, attainable goals for yourself. You can do this, but you have to choose it!

Or you could wait to purchase your dress and buy it off the rack rather than have it made. Scarier option, but could save money. I'm not a froufrou wedding kind of girl, so I'd wait, but if this is a huge dream or something, I think the advice for frequent fittings is spot on. Congrats on your engagement and wedding!0
