Work counting towards calories burned?

Quick question....I work in a hospital, 12 hour night shift. I run around the hospital all night long, walking sometimes as much as 5 miles and depending on the night, I am almost at a run for most of those. Should I count any of this towards my calories burned diary? Or is it considered normal daily activity? Thanks!

There are two ways to count your work, just make sure you are only counting it once:
1. Increase your daily activity setting to active or very active, whichever one you think is the best fit. or
2. Decrease your daily activity setting to sedentary or lightly active and add the hours at work to your exercise diary each day.
Personally I would go with the daily activity setting, as you don't have to add in extra stuff every day.0 -
dont count..work counts as your 'activity level'.0

Yep - I agree - set your activity to "mildly active" ....the highest one is for people lifting boxes etc I think...., and then just log real exercise you do.....0

Don't count it, this is your normal pace. (activity level)
Your body has adjusted to it. It's not a work out.0 -
I wouldn't count it. I used to think I was "exercising" when I worked night shift, because I never sat down for over 12 hours. I gained weight with this strategy. I would start by setting your daily calories to the activity level that fits your pace. If you start that plan and are losing weight, that is great! If you find you are not losing weight at the higher setting of activity, then you will need to decrease it back to the lower level.0

OK, thank you all for the advice! My activity level is already set a moderately active and I am exercising in addition to working lol...I just know people who count ANY activity towards their daily goal and I just wanted input from you guys. Thank you all so much!0
