Tip for cleaning the microwave: spray with any cleaner and then place a bowl or cup of water in and "cook" on high for about 6 minutes. The boiling water will create steam that will loosen any stubborn stuck on food! Just wipe clean with a paper towel. Make sure to be careful when removing the water from the microwave!

To prevent the water from splashing out on you when you remove it, you can put wooden chopsticks in the dish. I saw this trick on Good Eats (Alton Brown is a food nerd, but awesome!) and it seems to help w/ the boiling water in the microwave problem!

When baking with a recipe that calls for oil substitute an equal amount of unsweetened applesauce. It dramatically cuts the fat and calories, makes it more nutritious, and makes it a bit moister. I've done it with everything from cake to brownies to homemade oatmeal bars.

    8. Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!

What are leftover snickers? Does this actually happen?

At my old house we had what grandma used to call sweet ants. They are those little tiny suckers. They loved coming in the back door and checking to see what food the dog had left for them. Well, I was cleaning the kitchen one day and feeling frisky so when I saw them heading for the food I took the only weapon I had at the time and shot them and killed them. Mr. Clean with febreeze! I mean they died instantly! So I squirted it along the door frames and along the window frames! I never saw another ant in my kitchen AGAIN! We started using it at the bar I work at to clean the beer wells and it got rid of our fruit flies there too! AND it smells good!
