Living with a parasite; how to deal with rapid weight loss

You might be nauseated so much from dehydration. Can you keep broth or an electrolyte solution down? That might help keep you hydrated and perk your appetite back up.
I'm sorry you're going through this and glad to see that you're seeing a GI and have had all the appropriate tests.
I'm only suggesting this as a stop gap measure until you get this all sorted, because of course, the only real solution will be to get to the root of things and shift the parasites.3 -

I can’t have too much in my stomach at any given time without nausea, so I haven’t been drinking as much as I ought to, but I do drink water pretty consistently throughout the day to help with the stomach cramping; I might switch to a light broth or sports drink though, water certainly doesn’t provide any much needed nutrients...0 -
Wow. I really hope you get some relief...soon. Sounds awful.2

Definitely switch to something with electrolytes. Since you haven't been drinking much, you're likely at least mildly dehydrated.1 -
That is scary that
A) you pooped one out.. I would of freaked the *kitten* out.
B ) You live in Canada
Oddly enough I just said how scary it was out loud and my boyfriend just said "my sister had worms she was pooping them out for a while"
I would imagine it would very rare here. I was hearing stories of Americans coming here and asking for their hamburgers rare. That's not even allowed here. Coukdnt imagine eating raw ground beef0 -
I eat rare meat all the time. No worms! 99.9% of the time in countries with high farming and butchery standards raw beef is totally fine. And raw fish.
Animal transfer I would think the more likely cause. *kitten* happens sometimes (pardon the pun), I think the alarming thing here is how long diagnosis took and treatment is taking.4 -

What’s hilarious is that I’m originally Venezuelan, I immigrated here twenty years ago, and everyone I’ve told about the worms has been like “GURL HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO NOT GET WORMS IN VENEZUELA BUT YOU GOT THEM IN C A N A D A”4 -

I’m glad I noticed the worm in my stool at all, otherwise god only knows how much longer the diagnosis would have taken / I still eat raw meats too, I love it too much and the way I see it, I already HAVE parasites soooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Have you tried getting that medicine from a farm store? Something they would use on animals? I work in a feed store, which why I ask, it might not be as regulated if it's for animals, you would just need to figure out the amount. Hope you feel better soon.7

Zentel- albendazole single tab get rid of worms but it is prescription drug. Your doctor will give you this along with anti protozoals as well if required. It is easily cured of, so just complete the course of medication.1

Albendazole is apparently not commonly available in Canada, but I’ll be asking for a correct dosage on Wednesday, since what was originally prescribed to me was clearly not what was needed1 -
It is NOT easily cured by meds... I sent you a message. I have had them and more people actually have bodily parasites that are even aware they have them! If you get crust in your eyes or your *kitten* ever itches unfortunately that my friends are bodily parasites... Our bodies are created to heal itself but if you put a bunch of drugs in it ... that is not the answer!!!28

OP, please don't buy supplements based on this message. This is exactly what posters were worried about at the beginning of the thread. "Parasites are common and need to be cured with holistic supplements" is right up there with leaky gut, candida, and cleanses.
I hope your GI appointment gets you an answer and effective treatment. Definitely try the broth. Just keep trying bland foods in small quantities until then Good luck2 -

I was gonna say. Those parasites must run rampant during hayfever season. What a coincidence.2 -

And do i just eat them like gummy candies or is there some kind of special preparation method?
You need to be sitting in a garden.
First you bite the head off.
Then you suck the juice out
then you throw the rest of them away.
Nobody knows how I survive on worms 3 times a day,,my kids used to torture me with that song,OP all kidding aside I'm sorry you're going through this it sounds awful and I hope you figure out a solution soon2 -
Actually, technically it's correct, we do have parasites (mites technically) living in/on our eyes but it's normal and not something to be "treated" with magic ointment.
If you have intestinal parasites then that magic ointment ain't going to work. The latest scare condition that comes up never fails to surprise me. "oh, they're onto out detox scam, let's think of something else! I know! PARASITES!".3 -
If your *kitten* itches..perhaps you need to wipe a second time or buy better toilet paper6

I used to get pin worms as a kid in the south in the US from sitting on the ground in shorts or underpants. It was just an OTC pill to take, though. Super common in the south.2

They made my butt itch. ..they come out at night to lay eggs.

I had worms a couple of times too - I remember looking at my poo and seeing them moving around. So gross. I'm pretty sure the otc remedy was chocolate flavoured...0 -

Actually, the concern about crust in the eyes is not that it's created by parasites, but that it may become some sort of living creature that will absorb you.
(That's what I learned from a subpar episode of New Who, anyway.)
OP, hope you get your medication soon, sounds awful!4 -

My kids came home from daycare a few times with pinworms, as diagnosed by moving poo. Eewww! And yes, we all had to take the pill, but nobody was complaining.2 -

Check out diatomaceous earth that should help with most worm cases I know I have heard enough people talking about it when their kids get them from putting things in their mouths. Plus it has a few other benefits for over all health6
