Mud Run/Dirty Dash?

I should preface this by saying that I am not a runner by any means. However, becoming a runner has been one of my fitness goals for a long time. I have tried Couch 2 5K about 3-4 times and usually stop after the second week because I lose interest. I've always said I should just join a 5k so I have a goal to work toward. Well, a bunch of us from work are talking about signing up for the Dirty Dash next month. The race is 7 weeks away which would give me enough time to complete C25K if I start this week. I'm nervous though, because I understand that a mud run can be challenging because you're running through MUD (duh!). So I have a few questions for those of you that may have done a mud run before, or completed C25K after never being a runner before:
1. Would you say a 5k mud run would be too much for a 25 year old female who is in "eh" shape? (Granted, I'll have 6-7 weeks of training by the race)
2. Have any of your had success with C25K?
3. Any tips or words of wisdom?
Thanks for any advice you can give! The mud run looks like SO much fun, but I'm kind of intimidated at this point.

This is the one I want to sign up for (the one in SLC). I'm pretty sure they have them all over, they just might be called something different. I'm from CA and they were always called Mud Runs.0 -
I did a mud run last year. There were fun obstacles evenly spaced through out the event, the mud section was at the end and was the last obstacle in the race. Check out the races website to see the configuration for the race. (just looked at the site, looks like fun)
Lastly, lots of people walk run races. Look at this as an opportunity to have a little fun while working towards your goal of better health.

No, I think it's a great goal! I wasn't able to sign up this year but so many of my friends did, many in worse than "eh" shape. Seriously! Most people don't do mud runs for time so it could be a fun/low stress first "race".

I did c25k in april/may and am currently running 15-20 miles/week. It works if you do it!
3. Any tips or words of wisdom?
Start slow, follow a program, don't over do it, if you have a HRM use it to keep your HR in check when running.
