Can adjusting macros, while maintaining calorie intake, lead to weight gain?

Hi everyone. As the title asks. I've been on 1600kcal low carb (100g) for about 3 months. An unexpected trip came my way and while still able to stick to my calories my macros I have had a hard time sticking to leading to certain days where I'm eating 250g+ of carbs. Do you think this will lead to weight gain? I'm on a crusade to have a six pack before 40, and am almost there and would hate to see my effort go to waste.

Thanks for your input!

You will carry more water weight but that is lean mass, not fat.

If you're sticking to your calorie goal, you will still achieve your fat loss goals. Weight loss may be temporarily masked due to holding more fluid from increased carb consumption...

Dont stress about it, that'll likely make the water retention worse!

If those extra carbs came from fast/restaurant/pre-made foods, there is a pretty high chance there was also a higher salt content than you usually eat - which will also lead to some temporary water weight gain.

Out of curiosity though, how long do you think it will take for me to loose that water weight once I'm back on my regular macros? Thanks again everyone!

It really varies. I've had a french fry and Cheez-It day that resulted in a four pound gain that took two weeks to go away and I've had a week in Disney that ended in a four pound gain that went away after two days.

You might not gain a lot of water weight if you are eating fruit and plain oatmeal. Water weight can come from eating high sodium foods.

And from carbs -- carbs carry water with them in your body. Doesn't matter the source. (Protip: CarboHYDRATE)

Every gram of carbohydrate consumed comes with 3 grams of water...regardless of the source of that carbohydrate.
