@7lenny7 - that sounds amazing! But as @stoshew71 said you need to modify your route to see all of us! Orlando! Although in the summer running here is not so fun.
You can't get your wife to come along? I think you will find it hard to just go a mile on the trails, lol. They are going to be so beautiful... you won't want to stop. Can Kody come? Then you have to find dog friendly hotels which can be difficult and when you eat out.... what does he do? That sounds so fun though!!! You definitely have to plan it out.

Repeating Week 5 of C25K with my daughter since she got off track during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. She wants to run her 1st 5K in January. I’m on the hunt for one in the area now. Have a great day everyone.3 -
Today was a rest day - so just one mile for the streak. I told my mom yesterday - remind me tomorrow morning - only go ONE MILE. She didn't. And I was so tempted to go farther because I absolutely love running in these 30-45 degree mornings while visiting here in VA. But I don't want to overdo it and get hurt. Although looking at my mileage - I only have 55 miles for the month ... so that is certainly not overdoing it. I have 78 for the streak, which started 8 days prior. Jeez, am I running less because I'm streaking?! Oh well, it's all good. I just didn't have time to plan it out but now that I'm on break from both the HS and university where I teach I should plan out the rest of the days!

Big Hairy Audacious Goal: Sub 4 hours in Pittsburgh 2018!
Official Marathon PR: 4:11:28
Next Races (more as I find them):
02/10/18 - Valentine's Day 15k
03/17/18 - Shamrock Shuffle Half Marathon
05/06/18 - Pittsburgh Marathon - aiming for sub four hours.
05/12/18 - Glacier Ridge 50k Trail Ultra (I must hate myself)
2020 - Disney World Dopey! (if can raise funds)
Sub 2 hour half-marathon with no water or fueling and almost 1000 feet of elevation. You know, that sub 4 marathon might actually be doable. I really need to find time for some actual long runs though.5 -
@lporter229
He is either pretty good with few symptoms except fatigue.....or in the hospital, there isn't much middle ground. Only going on 3 1/2 years though.

I thought about meeting up with some folks to run with me but in order to do it in just 16 days, I won't be able to go too far off course and still have a chance of finishing before my vacation runs out. Trying to schedule the runs would also pose a problem. I suspect that a short run might turn into a long run in some places where the trail was just too wonderful to quit running (as you mentioned) and put me behind schedule. Or maybe I'd need more sleep (or less) than anticipated. I would LOVE to run with folks from this thread though. The likely scenario is that I'd post my anticipated schedule a day ahead of time and folks could join me if it works out for them.
I hadn't thought about bringing Kody but that might be a possibility. He'd be 12 years old by then but I do plan on keeping him in shape and at the correct weight. Hotels and eating out wouldn't be a problem. To keep the cost of the trip down I'd be camping or sleeping in the car and making my own meals and coffee. I might get a room once as a treat but will keep my creature comforts to a minimum. If something were to happen to Kody and he'd be unable to run, I'd have to cut my trip short and I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. I do love that idea though so I'll keep the possibility open.
I'm not going to list them but I've already figured out where I want to run in 13 of the 48 states. Subject to change of course. I'm expecting longer runs where I have to drive further between states and shorter runs in the east where the runs will be closer together. I figure 100 miles for the trip is realistic so that's about 2 miles per state. And there may be some bonus runs in there too in some of the larger states. Or maybe some runs where I can hit two states in a single run? Or run loops around 4 Corners monument to get 4 states in one run?
What would really make the run fun would be to talk one of my kids into going with me.
This isn't the only Big Plan I have. I also want to run the Camino de Santiago some time after retirement.
It may be just a dream, but I do hope to make it work and planning it is certainly something I enjoy.4 -

Lmao guys I'm just your average ultra runner doing weird stuff and planning my next terrible awesome idea with the help of Google
I think this will be your year for the sub 4 @PastorVincent !1 -
Non-running update: Currently in week six of no running, but this morning I ran a little to take me up to approximately 200m for the month so far. I wish the m stood for miles, but no, it represents itty-bitty meters instead. The good news is that there was zero shin pain, so I think I can test out a proper one-mile run this weekend to gauge things a little better.
PS
I used to click on awesome because you're all so damn awesome, but if you think I'm going to give out hugs, well you're all just too darned sweaty from all the running for that to happen.
PPS
Aww who am I kidding...you're all huggable really. Don't worry, I'll wear pants when hugging...promise.12 -
Dec. 20 - 1.5km short elliptical jaunt just to say I did something.
MTD - 34km/60km1 -
So unplanned rest day for me. Had errands to run (EVERYWHERE IS OUT OF GF SUGAR COOKIE MIX WTF!) and I have this twinge in my ankle/leg. It was super painful yesterday going up an incline/walking fast. Much better today but trying to rest it a bit more.0

Today's notes: Today's assignment was 1 hour easy road run. Since we had mommy/daddy date last night, I slept in this morning. Finally got to my run at 1945 this evening. Went out as the first snow was falling for the winter weather advisory we have. Went out there and got in just about 6.7 miles in my hour, for an 8:55 pace. I ended up with something a little harder than an easy run, but it felt good so that's what matters.
Hope everyone had a Runderful day!

I almost forgot to post this. I've been busy getting gifts wrapped and getting things ready for my kids to come for Christmas. I'm finally staring to get excited about Christmas this year. I do love the holidays, but they can be quite stressful.
Today's run was just wonderful. The weather was perfect. It wasn't my fastest run ever but it wasn't the slowest either. I'm not really training for anything specific at this time so today I just focused on running for the joy of running. I am looking for a 5k for my husband and I to run in the spring and thinking of one on St. Patrick's day and possibly a HM in May so I will have more of a training focus soon enough. I'm not sure how I will get my runs done over Christmas. I will most likely have to juggle my schedule around a little, but I feel like I'll be able to hit my December goal.

Man... I need to stop tracking calories. It is depressing. Ran 13 miles... and still was not enough to burn off dinner at Red Robin last night!3
-
@PastorVincent sorry but eating out is the issue. The only way to eat out is to plan the meal. Like Red Robin has this fantastic Avocobbo salad and the calorie total is reasonable.(You can even get away with eating some fries) The other option at Red Robin is to skip the bun. Most of their burgers are very tasty on a lettuce wrap. The same type of meal made at home is usually half the calories.
So its a few hours after my run and my calf is indeed sore. I was planning an elliptical run for Friday, I'm considering a rest day or at least reducing the intensity of the exercise.2 -

I did plan the meal - as in I planned to go stuff my face with bottomless fries and Red Robin Gourmet burger with Gluten Free bun. There are only so many options I have when I eat out so, I pick based on that limited set.
I guess I will just have to see if I can fit another 13 miles in today

I just eat reasonably healthy, my nutritionist doesn't want me to count calories unless I gain or lose weight.0 -

Eh. I like food. Without objective measures, I would regain back all the weight I lost fairly quickly. MFP CICO has keep me in my target range longer than anything else I have tried.
You see the miles I put in each month, it is not like I am not trying to be healthy. I just like food. A lot. Especially tasty food. Tasty food is the best.6 -

So true! I love Red Robin. We go once or twice a month. And I can eat their fries! There's so few places I can have fries that I will eat them when I get a chance. Plus, I don't really eat salads and I hate when I think I've found a new place to eat, only to find out their gf options are.... salad.0 -
My December goal: 25 miles
12/1: 2.11
12/2: 2.12
12/4: 2.11
12/7: 2.19
12/8: 2.12
12/11: 2.12
12/13: 2.19
12/16: 2.10
12/18: 2.28
12/20: 2.28 - 21.62 done, 3.38 to run
On my last run, My mind started "Eh, don't wanna do this! Leg hurts! Arms hurt! Toes hurt! Just walk, don't run! waaaah!" Was having a war in my head! Till I started listening to the song that was playing in my ear (only 1 ear bud in): "Whatever" by Godsmack. Sully screaming out the chorus "I'm doin' the best I ever did, Doin' the best I ever can, Doin' the best I ever did...NOW GO AWAY!" This is a good example of when music really helps!7
