Fiber / BM

Since I started my weight loss journey, I've noticed that my BM's are much less frequent. IE every 2 days or so.... I'm guessing I'm not eating enough fibers...

Any suggestions?

Note : Pre-journey, my BMs were normal.

Smaller volume of food intake is probably contributing too. If you increase fiber you should also increase water intake.

You need fat, fibres (both soluble and insoluble... But not too much) and water...

Less food means less to process, less waste etc.

Yep, all of this. It may be a fiber issue but it could be something else.

Also, every two days is not necessarily a problem. It's not true that you have to go every day in order to be healthy.

Thanks. I've been drinking alot of water, at least 8 glasses a day (I walk around with my Nalgene bottle). I'm following what MFP tells me for nutrients, macros and micros.

When I went to every other day my dietitian suggested this might be my new normal. As long as you aren’t getting backed up you could be perfectly fine.

If you want a BM eating chocolate tends to help out with that, and ensure your fiber intake is a bit higher. I like to eat the fiber one bars they can be pretty delicious, and other snacks that are higher in fibers or fruits and Veggies. Good luck!! you definitely want to get some kind of a BM because if you don't you can end up with issues later on.

When I was doing low carb dieting, I was frequently constipated. I ended up taking chewable fiber tabs. They helped. With low calorie eating, it isn't as much of a problem because I eat more fruit and high fiber cereal and bread.

I have had the same thing even though i do try to meet my fibre goals. I wondered if it could be because I am eating healthier food, there is less junk to be disposed of? Just a theory.

For a while, after the UK came out with new guidelines, there was a "10 veggie servings daily" challenge thread here. Some participants reported . . . significantly increased production, not to mention increases in satiation.

If you try this, ramp up quantities slowly, and keep the water and fats where they need to be, or Bad Things can happen. ;)
