Tracking the binge!

I've been logging through the holidays (with some "quick add" guesses for big meals) and I know very well that I've been overeating. I've also had several fine craft beers. Good stuff, urp!
Oh man! I'll need to compensate with a few weeks of cutting. That's going to suck!
Anyone else tracking the binge?

Yep, I've put on 4lb over the weekend . I walked to work today, back into the gym tomorrow.0

i'd give it a couple of days to let water/sodium weight fluctuations even out before deciding to do a cut6

it's Christmas- that's not a binge. let's be clear.
I wouldn't do anything but keep doing what you're doing- one or two days of massive over eating isn't going to kill you- let it go. Keep on keeping on.8 -

This. Exactly.
1-5 days a year isn't going to derail a good plan
Thanksgiving
Christmas
Easter
Superbowl
Independence Day
It's not a binge, it's an occasion. Like a Wedding or a Birthday.
Don't do it every day, or every week or every month, but a half dozen or so Occasions a year are a cause for celebration. Just wake up the next day and go back to living life.5 -
I've really been living it up since Thanksgiving and have decreased my exercise as the outdoors has become dark and cold in the northeastern US. I have definitely put on a couple of pounds that I want to get back off!
But, we're past the solstice, and days are going to start getting longer! Looking forward to some good winter trail running, swimming, spinning class, etc.3 -

To me a binge is uncontrolled eating or gorging, not a period of overeating.
Maintenance doesn't have to mean a unrealistic flat line of unvarying weight.9 -
There's no reason not to relax once in awhile and just indulge. The important thing is to not let it be the beginning of a new normal. I'm committing to making this last week of the year a strong one with extra good eating and some longer workouts. Also, I track EVERYTHING. If that means a day adds up to 4000 calories, that's what it means. I like knowing I have an accurate and consistent record for accountability.
BTW- I haven't really been active on the message boards in my year on myfitnesspal... at all. If you guys don't get many lurkers commenting here, sorry. Maybe you're more friendly than pregnancy message board members though haha. I like this thread.6 -

I am now obsessing. We recently lost a loved one and there has been lots of family meet ups. I don't feel like working out and wonder if it would pick me up a bit or just take time out.2

I find working out helps with the bad thoughts, I battle depression, and exercise helps better then the med's, if I keep it up, but it is hard to start.4 -

You should try to get a workout in. It’ll most likely improve your mood & thoughts - endorphins and all that jazz.
Very sorry about your loss!4 -
I somehow managed to stay pretty darn close to my maintenance calories this week, only over by 150 or so. I ate well, had some wine, enjoyed the cookies and walked about 10 miles a day. Oh, and I napped every day — which is glorious!
Ready to head into year 2 of just staying the course.3
