Vegas food

I'm all for a good burger but I don't really think I'd ever hit up a fast food chain to find one. It's been a long time but I've been to some great places to eat in Vegas. The 2 that stand out most were the nice fancy restaurants at The mirage and Paris. I really don't recall having a bad meal in Vegas, but then again I didn't eat at cheap chain places.1

If you're looking for pizza, I had some pretty good pie at Pizza Rock just off Fremont St.1

I am of the unpopular opinion, but I recently went to AZ from PA excited to try In N Out since everyone raves about. It was a major disappointment; Five Guys is better. I wish I could go back and eat at a non-chain instead of that place.
I always Yelp to find out what other people are saying about food in a certain area. I do not remember eating anything in Vegas that blew me away though. Have fun!1 -
I've lived in Vegas since 90. The strip buffets are really good IMO. I like Benihana's new location in the Fashion Show mall. Maggiano's Little Italy, Pizza rock, Grimaldis pizza, shake shack, Sugar Factory, Cabo Wabo, Bubba Gump. White Castle recently opened on the strip. Golden Steer for a classic Vegas vibe (expensive but great food).
Five Guys > In n out0 -
Try Skinny Fats... their food is awesome. They have “skinny” and “fatty” versions of their meals. Both are yummy0

Since no ones weighed in on the vegetarian portion of your I will. Most restaurants will have a menu online so your wife can look at her options ahead of time and plan out her meal. I have also found most places quite accommodating to us that like a more plant based diet and have never found anyone to be rude or insulting if I ask for something without meat. There are also a lot of vegan/vegetarian places to eat if you know where to look or happen to stumble across them. I use Happy Cow to find them https://www.happycow.net/
My favorite places to eat in Vegas are Egg Slut and Gordon Ramsey's Pub and Grill. On my list for my visit in March I have added Peppermill, Nacho Daddy, Pizza Rock, and Burgr.0 -
Oh and on a side note Steve Wynn, owner of the Encore and Wynn in Las Vegas, is a vegan so a lot of the restaurants in those hotels have multiple vegetarian/vegan options.0

I agree that In N Out is overrated. I grew up in Southern California, and it's just a normal burger place. If you want to try it just for the novelty idea, fine, but don't waste a whole meal there. Go for a snack and get a cheeseburger (like 300ish cals) and split a fry with someone. You'll get to taste it and still leave room for actually good stuff.1

Well as a Vegas native who has eaten out hundreds of time in my lifetime I, nor anyone I know has gotten sick every time they eat here. Granted I do not go to buffets hardly ever, but if you are eating from a trough of food that is sitting out for anyone to touch, sneeze and cough on, then you might get sick. On the other hand, I have gotten some suggestions of restaurants to try when I want to go out and eat.0 -

According to their website, a cheeseburger is 480 kcals (400 if you substitute mustard and ketchup for "spread") and half of an order of fries is just shy of 200 kcals. I'm thinking for most people 680 kcals -- or even 600 kcals --
is not a "snack."0 -
Ice pan! It’s the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. They literally make the ice cream in front of you - like what kind of milk do you want me to freeze into ice cream on my sub-zero ice plate while you watch? What fruits do you want smashed in? It’s amazing! If I recall, it’s at Harrahs near the tram stop entrance.0

First time I had an In & Out burger, it blew my mind. But that was 30 years ago, and the world has moved on. When you can burgers served on handmade brioche buns and laced with foie gras, a place like I&O seems pretty ordinary. Ditto for 5G, Shake Shack, etc. If you want a genuine burger experience in Vegas, go find a place called "Truffles n Bacon".
Vegas has tons of really fantastic food....Honey Salt, Andiron (same owners), Bazaar Meat (foie gras cotton candy, WTH!), Carnevino, Lotus of Siam, Hakkasan, Omelet House, Harvest, Flock and Fowl, Osaka, Echo & Rig, Portofino, Raku...really, the list goes on and on. You can't have that many zillionaires cycling through the town without having a lot of legit top flight food options!

Oops, had a typo in that post. Meant split the cheeseburger and the fry. Also, just because someone orders something, doesn't mean they have to eat it all! IMO, their fries are garbage, so you'll eat a couple and toss the rest.0 -

Vegas has quite a bit of gourmet food, but they are expensive of course. Guy Savoy, Joel Robuchon, Twist, Le Cirque, Picasso, etc.0 -
Vegan Chik'n and Waffles at the Wynn - it was amazing!0

I was able to make it to Wicked Spoon. The food was very very good. Good recommendation!0
