A nod to the Mods...Location info?

There are many 'Introduce yourself' threads, which are all well and good - at the outset.
However, what I think would be helpful would be for a user's location to be shown beneath their username/avatar. Many other forums for all sorts of disparate subjects show this, usually on a voluntary basis rather than mandatory.
Anyone have any views on this? Is this something the mods could consider?

How would this help you in your weight loss? Genuine question.
I've been on here since 2007 - it seems like this used to be an option...maybe I'm thinking about another forum, dunno.
I vote "No." if we're taking a poll. :flowerforyou:2 -
Another no vote...0

@Vertego - I think that would be wonderful. You could see who was in your area immediately and contact them as a potential buddy for support and encouragement. I vote an enthusiastic Yes! Otherwise, you would have to put your location in the title of your post.
You can already do that, in "Find Members" - you can search by distance from your own zipcode. There are plenty of "Groups" for geographical hookups, too. Go to "Groups" and type in your location - you may (or may not) get lucky. I guess it depends on why this is necessary. If you want to meet people in your area, start a group or a thread. ::shrug::

I've had creepy McCreeperson interactions with people in my general geographic area based on that type of disclosure. There are reasons why it's not a good idea, some people probably even use their real names. Also maybe not the best plan.2

If you are looking for someone in your area or state to be friends with on page (some do), you can do a post and mention in subject line something like "Anyone in _____?". Otherwise, I'd say no on posting city.0

I would not want my city posted either, but the state and/or country, would be okay. I have used the zip code method in my search, out of curiosity, and found that it queries many members not actually in my area of 25 miles radius.0

Question...on some profiles when I click on them the city and state are listed, however on some profiles, nothing is listed. I’ve tried to take my zip off entirely and MFP will not allow it. How do I hide my city and state? I don’t want others to see it.0
