2018, the year of healthy eating

Hello everyone!
I have decided to make some new year resolutions, or more like one massive one: cut out all the unhealthy snacks.
I've had this unhealthy way of eating for years now where I replace meals with crisps, chili nuts or pastries, and I do it almost every day (5-6 days/week). I'm not overweight, so it will be a bit of a challenge to cut all that out and maintain my weight, I'm not used to eating proper food several times a day. I'm also quite inexperienced in the kitchen, but I hope it won't be a complete disaster.
I am thinking that I should eat 3 main meals per day and 2 smaller meals in between. I'm not sure what the smaller meals should be, so far all I've come to think of it chia pudding with some fruit/berries and nuts, or similar. I don't really eat bread and things like yoghurt doesn't appeal to me. I'm also vegan, so some of the things people will recommend isn't something I would eat.
I would love to have some company in this journey. I did feel a little silly making this thread, but I couldn't see any other thread about it.
If there is other threads that I could fit in while doing this, please point me in the direction! I wasn't sure where to look.

Is there anyone that will do something similar? Is there a thread around that tackles similar goals?0

well I have sort of been doing this for some time. you may find its best to get some like minded friends on mfp that have similar goals to you, that way you can support each other daily and share diaries etc. good luck0

Hello!
That was kind of what i was trying with when I made this thread, to find others or possibly other threads where this is relevant. Am I doing it the wrong way? I must admit that I haven't spent that much time on this site till now and I'm not completely sure how it all works around here yet. I am used to forums where I post my progress in a thread and not in a diary and not directed to someone specific. I have noticed a lot of people adding each other here, so maybe what I am thinking of isn't something that is a "thing" here?0 -

Yes people generally add friends who have similar goals and they keep
In touch that way. It's a matter of choosing the right people to add.0 -

Alright, thank you for explaining that to me! I don't think I would have figured that out myselfNow I can avoid creating more doomed threads ^.^
I don't think I could do that, personally, too intimate and direct when I don't know the people. I can probably do well without the support, chatty as I am I will probably find another outlet for my thoughts and feelings.0 -
If you struggle with planning and cooking, perhaps make it easy for yourself and eat less meals - I found cutting out snacks/mini meals easy, and left me with more calories to play with for my main meals.
Consider prepping things in bulk - you could easily cook up a week's worth of quinoa/rice/beans etc. I've frozen all of them before and they defrost just fine
You could do the same with meals - chili, soups, curries etc. Portion them out and fridge/freeze as appropriate.
Having meals planned, food prepared and ingredients available may make it easier for you to avoid the snacks0 -

Thank you for the suggestions! I have been thinking about bulking up with food every time I cook, so that I don't have to cook that often. How good is quinoa and rice after you freeze it? I've never tried to freeze such foods before, but I guess it should be just fine.
I will probably have to eat several meals per day since I can't eat that much food at once. I suppose I could add very high calorie things to my main meals, such as oils, but I'm not sure if that is something I should do (?). I will have to test around I think.0 -

I have thought some more about this now and maybe it wouldn't be as terrible as I pictured it x) Just something to get used to. Now I just have to figure out where to find people like me, hmm...0 -

I already mentioned rice and quinoa defrosting - it's fine, cold or reheated...
Adding calorie dense foods like fats is fine - you need fat! Plus, it makes food taste good0 -

Sorry, I guess I'm not at my brightest this morning.
Okay, I guess that's something I could do then! Now I just have to find recipes that I wouldn't get tired of eating x times/week and that are nutritious0
