So I’ve set my goal to -2lbs/ week. Which puts my calories at 1200/day. Question is: Q1 if I’m eating 1200 now but hit a plateau, I don’t have the option to drop under 1200, so is it best to start, say at 1400 or 1500 then lower as I hit those stalls?

Q2- can you bust through a plateau with just staying at your set 1200 and not worry about lowering calories?

    What is your height, weight, and goal weight? 2lbs/week may be too high for your stats. You should never go below 1200.

    Why not set appropriate goals and then stay the course. Plateaus happen to everyone, but they don't last - and the answer is never going to be, "Go lower," when you are eating so little anyway.\

    Can you give us your height and how much weight you need to lose before you get into a healthy BMI?

    My thoughts as well on the plateau, I’ve been in them before... My main objective is to lose consistently, if it’s 1/2lb or 2lbs I’m fine with that. I want it the healthy way

    There are no plateaus. Whether you can lose 2 pounds of fat per week, in theory, depends on how much excess fat you have; how much you can lose in practice, also depends on how strictly you stick to the optimal calorie deficit. Weight loss slows down as you lose, there is nothing you can do or should try to do about it. Take it as a compliment from your body, as someone just said. It means that you're getting healthier and that weightloss is getting less urgent.

    based on what you said start at 1400 when you eventually plateau you then have the option of 1200 but i think 1200 is a bit low given your current weight, instead of focusing too much on lowering calories if you are between 1200-1500 up your activity level instead of trying to keep lowering your intake. If you have any issues that stop you from the common go to workouts usually suggested post or pm and I and/or others can help you find a workout that will work

    If you are currently sedentary, does this mean you will or will not introduce exercise during your weight loss? Increasing your NEAT (non exercise acttivity) and EAT (adding in or changing exercise) will greatly help you. And since MFP's calorie deficit does not include purposeful exercise, MFP's method intends for you to exercise so that you would be able to eat more than the 1200 calories and still lose weight.

    It has been, I’m good at starting things just not continuing though. I do have intentions of starting out walking though

    I do intend on starting walking... my treadmill is calling me

    I’m 5’2, 133 lbs and no matter what I set my weight loss goal at per week it gives me 1200 calories. If you want to eat, like to eat or hit a plateau all you can do is increase your activity because there are no more calories to cut

    If you're good at starting then perhaps you need to just keep starting.

    Every few days find something new to try. Find things on YouTube. Find some free classes. Walk. Make up your own challenges. Join challenges here.
