Working out in the AM

I’m a school teacher so my days are busy, when I get home I have lesson planning to do and when that’s over I just want to relax!!
I want to start working out in the morning so that I don’t miss my workouts.

Im up at 410 every morning. At working out by 5. My tips: make sure the coffee is ready the night before and put out all your workout gear and anything else you need to have ready. Then you have no excuses! Good luck!!5

I have to get everything ready the night before ( clothes, pre workout food, post workout food, lunch, work clothes, etc.) It really helps if I have a fun workout planned. I do the classes at the gym, so getting up for 545 spin is worth it rather than just doing my own thing at the gym.3

I used to wake up at 5 am so I could get a workout in before work. It was really hard to do but I realized I felt so much better after the workout and I had crazy amounts of energy throughout the day. Plus, it is also great to know that your workout is already done for the day.
Put a few alarms on your phone just in case you don't wake up the first time.4 -
Let me second what DocJayDee said, prepare the night before.
Beyond that, shift your bedtime forward an hour or so to ensure you get enough sleep. If you are one to struggle to get up with an alarm, place it across the room so you have to get up to turn it off (spouses don't like this all that much, but hey, this you about you).
Make sure you warm up before you get into the workout. Most group classes do a good job of this, but take it upon yourself to warm up before their warmup if you aren't getting where you need to be.
Enjoy yourself. A good morning workout can set the tone for the rest of the day and give you even more energy.

I don't understand posts like this. There really isn't an easy button. You just have to get up and get it done.7

There’s no trick to it. You just have to get up and do it. The hardest part is getting your butt out of bed that first time. After a while it becomes easier and part of your routine. After a few days of me waking up early I found that I really enjoyed my “me” time all by myself, no kids or husband. Even if I didn’t work out I still got up early and just drank my coffee and played on my phone or whatever.
I googled “tips for working out in the morning” “tips for waking up early” etc so many times hoping there would be some magic trick but there’s not. Just do it.3 -

Other than what’s been mentioned, just know yourself. If exercising in the morning is hard for you, ask yourself why. Are you not getting enough sleep? Do you need to eat more first, or eat nothing at all? There’s no right answer here. And there’s also no virtue to waking up early and exercising as opposed to doing it at night. The best plan is going to be the one you personally can stick with.5

I also work at a school. I get up early and do a workout DVD/video every day. I need to leave the house at 7:30. I usually get up around 5:15-5:25am and have showered and am making my coffee by 6:302

I am up at 4:30a M-Friday. For me, once I realized that I would never feel like getting up that early, I overcame the mental side of it. Even when I am in bed by 8-8:30pm, trust that when that alarm goes off, I'm like damn that sucks. BUT as soon as the alarm goes off, my legs are swinging to get my feet on the ground. I don't give myself the opportunity to talk myself out of it. I find that for me, the benefits are worth those dreadful 30 seconds before I'm standing up. Good luck!8

Just do what I do, it's easy:
1. Lay out all workout gear the night before.
2. Program the coffee pot to brew 15 minutes before the alarm goes off.
3. Set the alarm to get up extra early.
4. Hit the snooze button 3 or 4 times.
5. Oversleep.
6. Quick Shower / Brush Teeth and Eat Breakfast in my car.
7. Scramble to arrive at work barely on-time.
8. Work out at night.
9. Repeat Daily.13 -
As a night owl for the past 4+ decades, switching to a morning work out was not easy. Now it is up by 5. Gym by 5:20. Workout. Home by 7. Drop kids off at school by 8. At work by 9
I avoid using coffee (which I love and will have once back from the gym). Forcing myself to go to sleep earlier the key...don't try and stay up like you once did.
Prepare in advance. I put my gym bag and clothes I am going to wear downstairs (don't want to wake my wife by making too much noise).
I made my routines more focused and shorter--30 minutes weights, 20-30 cardio...they are intense though. As an aside, I found that my strength and stamina decreased by 10 or more percent. Don't get discouraged if this happens.
I don't eat breakfast until after I come back. If I want to have something small, I can grab a power bar.
I shower after the workout.

That's why I workout at home... I found it rather complicated to go to the gym in the morning. I save lifting for right after work...we have weights at school.0

I leave all my stuff at the gym, so I just have to get out of bed and get in the car. I have a private locker at my club and they wash my clothes too so I never have to scramble for workout gear in the morning which can save time and hassle. They also supply the towels and shampoo/conditioner/hairdryers so I can get ready for work there and be on my way.
If this is an option for you, I highly recommend paying the additional amount to have things provided. If not, make it easy for yourself and leave extra workout clothes, work clothes, towel and toiletries in your car so you don't forget anything.2 -

Get to bed a bit earlier. If you can, exercise as home, or if you have a gym and shower you can use at work use that. Have everything ready the night before1

I second the sleep part. I like to be in bed by 8:30 in a perfect world. It's usually closer to 9 or sometimes 10, but once you get into a pattern, 8:30 bedtimes are awesome.1 -

Dogs expect me to be up at 5. Gym opens at 5:30 so it works out well for me.

I put out my run gear night before and set alarm for 4:30 am so I can have a coffee and get out the door by 5. City streets are peaceful in the early morning. I have never regret coming back from a run but I have regret not going out for one.0

1. Have your gear laid out before bed.
2. Set an alarm(and get up)
3. Have a coffee(or PWO) and go. If you can tolerate Beta Alanine, include it with your coffee/PWO. Nothing like the Beta Alanine Shivers to motivate you to get the blood pumping.0 -
What worked for me is finding something I love doing. I don't really enjoy running all that much, so I never plan to run in the morning. But I love crossfit. So I am more motivated to get out of bed and get to class on time. However, like everyone else said, prepare what you can, and then just get up and do it. You can do it! And you'll feel better during the day when you do.0

i leave for the gym every day at 6 30. get to gym at 7. leave for work at 8 (hour drive)

hell, 6 am is sleeping in. im up at 4 most days lololol
i slept till 7 one day and my fiance woke me convinced i was dead.
